Probably not, but if they want to get the whole "theme" in complete sync, that's a step in the right direction!
  2. I've gotta say, being there for Boston 1 and again last night for B3, two TOTALLY DIFFERENT shows!

Sadly, I was in a crappy section. I think stuffed dummies were brought in to fill seats or something. Zero life in my section barring 2 or 3 women at the end of my row, one of whom came down from Canada. I thanked her after the show for being the only other sentient life form in the area

I was there with my kids last night, who are not quite as insane about U2 as I am. But during Iris I noticed my oldest daughter was standing up with me and she was singing alone, with tears in her eyes, which of course, brought tears to mine. Possibly the coolest thing I could have ever asked for was have something like that to know my kids were touched in some way by this band as I have been over the past 35 years.

I was disappointed by the absence of Bad and 40. I want 40 to close out every show and I want to relive the LiveAid version of Bad every time as well (complete with Maggie's Farm Going out with ISHFWILF seems odd to me. Great song, and I'm happy they played it, but it just doesn't seem like a closer to me. Another ting I've noticed is that something seems missing from the crowds over the last several tours. The house lights come on, and BAM. That's it, show over, shuffle outside and go home. What happened to everyone singing the chorus of the closer over and over out into the streets? Maybe it's me, maybe it never really happened and I'm over-romanticizing the '80s.

Anyway, last night's show was very different from Friday night's. The energy of the music seemed not quite as high at first, but I realized that's because NO ONE WAS STANDING! WTF people. This is U2. I don't care if you're in nose-bleed territory. Get up off your duffs and ENJOY! I actually had one lady in front of me, before Power to the People come on ask me to "Please curb your enthusiasm. You're too loud!" I was explaining to my kids what the show was like. Maybe she didn't want spoilers, I get that, but I really don't think that was it. She SAT through the ENTIRE show?!?! No clapping, no singing along, not even a toe-tap. Just sat there while her husband or whomever played on his phone texting people. Whatever. Once I stood up, the energy flowed right back and Electric Co. got me going again

Our seats were worse than Friday nights. Up in the balcony. But one thing struck me, we had a MUCH better view of the entire stage. Friday night we were just off stage right, so that dominated out view, and being down in the Loge area, seeing to the far end of the 'e' stage was difficult. But last night being so high up we could see everything. Our view of the big screen wasn't quite as good being at such an angle, but you still got the overall effect quite well.

Visually I also noticed there were differences in what showed up on the big screen. This seemed to take place about mid-show. And I can't tell you what exactly was different, but things like when the Stephen Hawking clip played seemed slightly out of place compared to Friday night, and at one point there was a shot of a desert with a glowing Joshua Tree and beams of light projecting out of it. Both my wife and I looked at each other in disbelief and pointed!

Of course, the addition of Crystal Ballroom was awesome! But only the die-hards knew it. My wife and kids were completely unfamiliar with it, as were most of the audience it seemed. But it was a great song, and plays really well live. And of course they went off into Miss You by the Stones for quite a long time, classic Bono tangent, which was awesome! And Edge's guitar during that was just unbelievable! I really can't wait to get a bootleg of that!

Well, I'm not entirely awake yet. I'm sure more will come to me as the day goes by. I'm going to be stalking the TicketMaster site to see if I can get a few GA tix for tonight's last show. I don't have high hopes, but I'll give it a shot.

  5. By the way, what I was talking about last night for EBTTRT almost looking like PopMart visuals:

    VS.

  6. Yeah, Matt, but those visuals were retired after San Jose (just like the Mofo snippet, lol).
