  2. This song is like what I'd imagine a Bono solo track to sound like. He sounds good and the chorus hook is a bit of an earworm. Very Bono lyrics, all universal and the 'magic marker' line makes me smile as it's pure Bono. The other guys are not very prominent, except for Mr. Mouse and his keyboard. I'm not sure I can hear any solo at all, but then again why does a song always have to have a solo. The middle eight sounds very sketchy and the fade out is lame. Going by what Dave Fanning said, it may not be the finished article and may have been rushed for the movie release.

    Ultimately, it's not bad, but it's not top drawer material either and I'd hope that after five years or whatever length of time they're writing/recording/producing/procrastinating/trashing/recording/getting married/recording or whatever they've been doing, that they'd have 12 other tracks knocking around to put on an album.

  6. The song isn't a bad song - it sounds similar to another song I know from many years ago.

  8. I don't think it would fit on X&Y at all. Mylo Xyloto maybe, but I agree with Bart in that this is what you'd expect from the 2000-2007 U2.

  10. Undercooked? Bad production? I think this is as polished as they want it to be, I don't hear any bad production. It sounds loud, defined and pretty clear at the same time.

    What I meant by bad production is that the bridge sounds unfinished to me and that the song fades out too quickly. But maybe it's the band's fault. I don't really know what production is all about...

    Anyway I'm sorry.
