the glory days of the tour when it was still fun and full of anticipation
  2. Yes, but back in those days we were all complaining just like today.
What a little perspective can do.
  3. I meant that the band seemed to have more fun and more anticipation about what the show would be each night, they were still exploring the songs/stage and setlist...have to admit that though I have not attended any EURO shows of the tour, listening to them just sounds a little less than the US shows. still put on an amazing show every night and I haven't stopped listening even though I know what to expect, I still love waking up with a SOI tune singing in my head, they really grew on me!

Between my two shows in LA (3 and 5), I got to hear two different 2nd slot songs, 4 different e-stage songs, The Troubles, and two different closing songs. I wasn't complaining about "lack of variation" then, but the European Leg seems to have played out quite differently. I will say that having Bad+40 consistently show up on the same night in every city is something to be envious of.

Too bad it's not a combination of both - now we have October, few seconds of Zooropa and Bad/40 more often but I still miss the new songs, I'm not sure the exchange was worth it, probably not USA shows were better until New York where they started to repeat e-stage pairs - a sign of things to come
  6. The dropping of new material is a bit criminal when you consider how long the album took and the whole 'we want as many people to hear these songs as possible' line. To begin playing new b-sides rather than solid stuff from your new album is strange (but to be applauded I suppose).

I can't get my head round it but I'll maybe begin work on an editorial to summarise my thoughts. I shall let the dust settle first and we still have four shows to go.

Yeah, six SOI songs is not enough for me - especially when you consider how long it took them to make the album plus the whole "relevance" thingy... I am OK with B-sides, I prefer them over the old material (unless it's something rare and they play, well, nothing like that...), they could easily play 9 songs from SOI and add Reach Me + Sleep Like later, it's funny how they think NLOTH was not "relevant" but its tour had the same number of new songs played as this tour, I know it's not the only important factor but you can see my point
  8. You can thank Mark Peterborough for that. He's been updating it after every show. Properly brilliant.
  9. finally someone who has the same thought of me.......in Usa setlists were more changed, yesterday super final encores with 40 but the rest always the same speeches except the poetry in french language. But snippets and some guests don't create a tour.

  10. Why the lack of love for Stuck in a Moment? It was amazing at NY night 2. One of the highlights of the two shows I was at.

Because there is an army of haters who hate it. I used to get some hurtful words for my dislike of the I'll Go Crazy remix...but I love Stuck...but seriously, they played it a lot the last few years, and as much as I love it, would rather hear Original of the Species, anything from Pop, California. I know they have to play the hits, but this tour is so much like 360, I'm tempted to say they are acting too much like other artists their age. It is not easy to be the biggest concert draw in the world. I also would take Crystal Ballroom or Lucifer's Hands over much of SOI. Just like No Line, they will continue to drop the new songs as the tour marches on. They don't have the deep love for SOI that they did at first.
