So recently I've been listening to a lot of Dublin and Sydney ZooTv and I just can't get tired. But I would like to give a try to more ZooTV shows. Which ones would you recommend me? Better if they have high quality audio.
1992-05-22 Milan - One of my favorite performances and best crowd on U2 shows
1992-06-04 Dortmund - Great performance and good vibes... Highlights: Mysterious Ways, Trying To Throw Your Arms Around the World, extended versions of I still haven't found what I looking for and Love is Blindness
1992-06-13 Kiel - One of my favorites too... As mentioned before.. Bono snippeted lines of Walk to the Water in Bad... Amazing, and other great performances too
1992-08-13 East Rutherford - New leg.. great sound and some fresh performances
1992-09-02 Philadelphia - One of the best of this leg.. great performances and great audience recording
1992-11-14 Anaheim - Everytime U2 plays here, something special. On vertigo tour and 360 they mixed up the setlist and at this concert Bono was on Fire... Different lyrics, falsettos, different singing.. on various tracks
1993-07-27 Copenhagen - An underrated one... Emotional performance of Bad, great snippet of Daddy's gonna pay... And audible backing vocals by Larry in Numb at the end
1993-08-12 London - For me the best of the 4 london shows... Babyface and zooropa was in setlist and Jo Shankar was in Bad
1993-08-14 Leeds - Not great as London but also a great show, but nobody talk about this. Great recording, Babyface played again and good performance.. also one of the best performances of Stay and Desire on Zoo TV
1993-12-09 Tokyo - Good show, but the highlight is a very strong performance of Dirty Day... Also a surprisingly good encore compared to Sydney and Adelaide performances
Here's a few from the indoor legs!
Los Angeles (12/04/1992) - Amazing musically and perhaps Bono's best show on the first leg, some of my favourite versions of Bad and Love Is Blindness as well as my personal favourite Wild Horses.
Tacoma (21/04/1992) - This show is known for it's stellar performance of One (I agree, it's my favourite version too) but there's some other great performances here - UTEOTW is stunning, containing a very early Break On Through snippet, and Bullet is one of the best early Zoo versions for me. Slow Dancing also makes a rare appearance, while When Love Comes To Town makes an appearance too.
Milan (22/05/1992) - Another fantastic version of One and my favourite Bad on Zoo TV, it's one of a kind. Other great performances here are Desire, with a killer snippet that shows up a few times over the tour, UTEOTW, which has amazing energy, and The Fly, which shows how great the crowd was that night.
London (31/05/1992) - The crown jewel of the indoor shows for me, Bono is on fire, delivering countless snippets, and Edge even gets in on the act too, playing a small bit of Stairway To Heaven before Satellite! If you're a fan of Love Is Blindness too, this is absolutely the show for you - this is the true best version for me, with an unbelievable three part solo, amazing vocals and a beautiful snippet to round it off, this performance has it all.
There's many many more, but these are the highlights for me. Other notable ones have been listed above by others too, I recommend checking them out!
For the outdoor legs, I recommend:
Toronto (06/09/1992) - A fun, loose show with Bono really in the mood, throwing out snippets and improv everywhere - Bad is excellent with some lovely snippets and improvisation, Desire has the same killer Not Fade Away snippet that i mentioned for Milan, Arms is one of the loosest and funnest versions, featuring a humourous exchange between Larry and Bono. This is definitely one of the funnest Zoo shows for me, and we know how high the bar is.
Tempe (24/10/1992) - My favourite Outside Broadcast show, full of twists and turns and improv, Running To Stand Still is a stunning version, while New Year's Day and One also really stick out. A performance of Suspicious Minds also happens at the end of Angel Of Harlem, expanding upon the Lovetown snippet in a way similar to how Dancing Queen is treated.
Naples (09/07/1992) - Fresh off the release of Zooropa, Numb gets it's second ever performance here. It's primitive and weird compared to the later live verisons, but it's still very interesting to hear. This show also has the last *ever* version of Sunday Bloody Sunday in the original key, which is especially notable. Desire, Redemption Song, WLCTT and Bullet are fantastic performances here, among a few others.
Copenhagen (27/07/1993) and London (12/08/1993) - These two have been mentioned above, and are fantastic performances, I highly recommend them too, I don't have too much to say on either of them as a lot has been said previously, but both are highly worth it.
Tokyo (10/12/1993) - My favourite Zoomerang show, the newer songs are fantastic here and some songs get the send-off they deserve. It's a great ending to the entire tour and a step above most other shows on the leg for me.
There's also Mexico (25/11/1992) which is an incredible performance, but I've left it off due to terrible audio quality - I understand if that deters you.
That's all, enjoy these recs if you ever get round to doing them! You're in for a treat, I'm sure.
