1. Not at all, I posted "Oh, yes, you're dam right!!" but then I recalled that we were talking about Some Days, and not about Babyface (which I tought we were xD) and then edited my post.

I think Babyface has much more explicit sexual references:

Bitter sweet girl won't you give me a taste...

Coming home late at night, to turn you on
Checking out every frame, I've got slow motion on my side
Turning around and around with the sound and colour
Under my control, go round and around, going down
Dressed up like a lovely day

    Babyface, babyface
Slow down child, let me untie your lace
    You're everywhere child
    You're all over the place

The "coming home late" paragraph are probably the most sexual verses in all U2 lyrics (apart from Lady With The Spinning Head)
  2. BABYFACE is certainly about watching a porno via some form of TV media (videotape, cable)... no doubt about that in my mind.

Probably from being on the road for so long on ZOO TV

These lyrics sum it all up:

    Coming home late at night
    To turn you on
    Checking out every frame
I've got slow motion on my side
    Turning around and around
    With the sound and colour
    Under my control

But I am pretty sure Some Days is just kind of a song about what it says it is...I really think so...

must say, Zooropa is without a doubt the U2 album I put on the most. I wouldn't argue that it is the most groundbreaking thing they introduced into the world of music....that might go to Joshua Tree or Achtung...but I gotta say, I like listening to it more than any other U2 album. So in my mind?

    Zooropa: Best. U2. Album. Ever.
  3. Oh - couldn't help myself on the list of fave Zooropa songs as well:

    Zooropa
    Wanderer
    Lemon
    Dirty Day
    Babyface
    Numb
    Daddy's Gonna Pay
Stay (to be honest the recent acoustic versions U2 have been playing of Stay have made me like the song less)
    First Time
    Some Days

But all that said - I love each and every track on the album...Achtung Baby may be the only other U2 album I can say that about (sorry - Bullet the Blue Sky is the one skip on Joshua Tree for me)

And I can't believe people are even thinking about panning the Wanderer! WHAT AN AMAZING CLOSING SONG! I think on purpose or not, Zooropa is the closest thing to an actual concept album U2 have made, and The Wanderer is a brilliant last chapter.

Close but not quite, Babyface is about a man who's obsessed with a celebrity and keeps watching videos of her on his TV. It's an interesting song as the lyrics are sinister while the music and vocal harmonies sound like a Christmassy pop single.

But the song's title is definitely the literal meaning of Some Days

  5. I didn't think of it that way...that makes sense as well. Though the line "Let me unpack my case" means the person in this narrative isn't exactly watching this celebrity and eating popcorn.

Be it a celebrity or not...seems there is a bit of...ehm...self-satisfaction required in this "relationship."

Anyway, of course I don't know what it's really about, though I think Babyface is one of the darkest, weirdest and most delightfully disturbing U2 songs, especially paired with the "Christmassy pop single" you mentioned (well described!). Great song.

Oh, believe me, it isn't a healthy obsession, lol
  7. BUMP

I saw this picture and had to think about "Some Days Are Better Than Others"

Btw, I know I suck at paint but this might make a good cover for a single.

  8. Lol
U2 is too pure to do that (not!!!!!!)

  9. hahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. My favourite song off Zooropa, not as nearly as controversial a statement as the next one...

...It might be my favourite U2 song.
