I really, really like the song. Their strongest release in years. (And I thought EBW, Iris, and Reach me now had already set the bar pretty high.)

We *are* spoiled, as many have pointed out already. Band is sill at the top of its game, and they’re nearly pushing 60.
Yeah, the band is doing a good job at nearly 60. I am looking forward to hearing the whole album.

Same here (although I disagree with the "top of their game" statement). I really like GOOYOW for what it is - an easy listening, poppy song. It's lovely to sing along and play on guitar.
  3. we must say that the new songs are like boots or miami, are not song of level u2, real embarrassed . Only blackout and american soul (listened only once ) are acceptable, 6 on 10, 2,5 stars on 5 ,imo

Right, I actually agree. Let's say they were at the very top of their game in 1991-3? It's been uphill until then and downhill from there. Perhaps others will indicate 1998 - but, come on, AB and Zoo TV rocked *even more* than Pop and Popmart.

I guess I meant that they can still pack a very proper punch :-). Just like Bowie at roughly the same age during his last tour.

Yeah, ZooTv was U2 at the top of their game. TJT and Lovetown Tour (but not R&H album) and Pop were close but not quite there - and of course it's been downhill since.

SOI is my favourite album, Pop is probably my #2. But just because of the way I feel about those albums, I can't really argue that they were - in a big-picture view - on par with ZooTV-era U2. That doesn't mean I can't feel more from them on a personal level. But the band clearly peaked in the early 1990s. That's fine - it's not like everything since then has been ever-worse, or even bad. SOI is a better album, I think, than any of the three they made in the 2000s, and not just from a personal feelings standpoint. But it's not ZooTV and it's just not going to be. That's alright
  6. And after making the mental adjustment required to go from JT to the "poppy" SOE sound, I really like this tune. IMO it should have been the lead single for the album, but then U2 rarely gets its lead singles right .

At least it’s better then The Best Thing...
I think The Blackout should have been the lead single. It’s really cool
  8. Maybe. But all you gotta do is read some of the replies to his tweet. some of those kids are gonna check it out for the simple fact he told them he worked on it. Newbies.
