  1. FINALLY SOMEONE ASKS THE BAND

    To start wrapping up here, this year is the 20th anniversary of Pop. Are you aware of the cult that's grown around it in the U2 fan community?

    Well, it's something I've only recently became aware of. I love the record and I think there are some great things on it. But at the time we released it was the one that sort of got away slightly because it was rushed. We'd committed to the tour and if we had more time I think we all feel it would have been more fully realized. We started out trying to make a dance-culture record and then realized at the end there are things we can do that no EDM producer or artist can do, so let's try and have it both ways. In that case, we probably went too far in the other direction. We probably needed to allow a bit more of the electronica to survive.

    I think songs like "Please" and "Gone" have aged very well.

    I love both those songs. I even like "Wake Up Dead Man." I love that tune. One of the tunes I was trying to persuade everyone to play on the last tour was "Playboy Mansion." But I think Pop is a great record. I was very proud of it by the end of the tour. We finally figured it out by the time we made the DVD. It was an amazing show that I'm really proud of.

    Maybe they don't all love it, Edge is only really speaking for himself here. I reckon Bono will have his complaints about the album and I don't know if it would be one of Larry's favourites but I can see Adam liking it.
  6. Pretty sure Bono and Edge are fine with it. They played Staring At The Sun on 2011-10-15.
  7. Only one song and loads of others haven't featured for a long time. The fact Edge was trying to persuade them to play playboy mansion suggests he was maybe the only one up for it. Im not saying Bono sees it as a failure but maybe has gripes here and there with it more so than other u2 albums. I don't think that rules out them playing 1 or 2 from it on the next tour though.
  8. Mmm... I only see some repeats of what they've always said about Pop ("it wasn't finished","if only we could had a few more weeks", etc.), some late appreciation of the songs, but no real discussion about whether they would play those songs again.
    I still expect a total disregard of this material for the E+I tour.
    What pisses me off is how we hear things like "Please is a great song, we just couldn't find a place for it with the themes of the tour, bla bla" and they always can fit Elevation, Pride, Beautiful Day, etc. in every freaking tour.
  9. I fully expect them to bring back A Pop son next tour. Not like a staple of course but maybe an equivalent of ASoH this tour.

    There were rumours of Mofo being rehearsed during 360. I think Mofo/Discotheque/Please/Gone could be played, with the first 2 song in a different arrangement than we know
