He didn't push himself vocally and didn't really have much energy on stage compared to others. First night jitters maybe? I'm sure it will only get better. Band sounds great but Bono was singing behind the beat a lot which comes off as tired but I think it's more just being cautious.
yeah i agree , was sounding safe, it kinda seems like u2 as a whole have been playing it safe for quite a while, songs of innocence was very polished off and the was no rawness to it if you catch my drift, its like they keep second guessing themselves . Bono's timing was a bit off at times but at least he still sings intune and in key, unlike Jon bon Jovi , their recent tour for the this house is not for sale album wasn't great vocally at all!

Yeah thats a fair call. You are right its just missing something.... I fell in love with U2 because of the soal passion and energy. I feel like thats a bit lacking cant put my finger on it. Trust me I am one of the biggest fans of my age hahaha
how old are you. haha i may be the youngest u2 junkie on here at age 22
  3. This was a rushed show due to late start.as for opening night this was still one of their better ones.
  4. So then, as the old dude of the bunch... first saw them in '80, but fell in love with them for same reasons you did, I think it may have been a combo of playing it safe, 1st night nerves, and the late start which pushed them to speed up the show and likely bypass much of what they went through in dress rehearsal... I think next show will be more indicitave of how the tour is meant to go.

Also, as one who has seen several opening weeks for them, it generally takes them 3-4 shows before they really catch fire and click on all cylinders...

Let's not forgot our boys aren't exactly young anymore.
  6. All these glitches will be ironed out over the first few shows and they'll sort the set list out and the encores . As always the tour will evolve and get better as it progresses
  7. yeah but they are still the best band in the world!! for their age they are still very very good, better than most bands if not all bands their age! Bono still has the voice ,just cracks at times which i don't mind at all! its live which is something a lot bands cant sustain anymore ,to much playback!

Yeah and not to take away from those who were there. It's always easy on sideline to be a critic.
Opening night of Zoo was freaking amazing because I was there but listening to bootleg you can hear all kinds of ruff parts and Bono being off a lot compared to later shows in June.
And you know they will watch back and see and hear what we hear and it will get much better.
I hope they add guitars to RHMT because it sounds really cheesy and like Vegas lounge.
    Luv Exit and Mothers
