Performance

The band seemed a bit tense and reserved especially compared to the next show, and Bono did seem a bit tired near the end. I thought they executed very well especially those "new" old songs, but it felt a bit "efficient" with very little banter from Bono; perhaps they were rushed given the late start. But having said all that the band put on a great show. Bono was a bit careful with his voice in places but still did belt it out. IMO opening night is never their best but still a top notch show. I find it kind of endearing that a band at their level still get opening night jitters.

Sound

I really enjoyed this recording, and you could hear that it really was a great show. Considering BC Place is not the best with acoustics, it was very clear. I also enjoyed the commentary!

Audience

Pretty good for a Vancouver audience which are typically fairly reserved ( I live here). I was in GA close to Adam and the floor crowd was pretty into it most of the night. The first few songs were perfect as opening tracks to get the show going. JT was sublime with the stage and the audience seemed very into each song. And while reviled by many Elevation is a great crowd pleaser and energy builder.

Overall

I thoroughly enjoyed the show. I was late getting to GA (3 pm) and ended up at main stage 2 deep from Adam which was still pretty good for a relatively short time lining up. I liked the mix of songs even those "energy drainers". Seeing the whole JT album front to back, performed so well with the amazing stage backdrop was great. Exit was awesome as well as OTH, RHMT, IGC. I loved the new song and while it was a bit awkward as a closer but hope they continue to play it as I think its one of the best new songs in a while. So overall while not perfect, it was still a great U2 show. I admit I was sceptical of this whole tour but am so glad it's on, and that U2 is back in my life. If anyone was on the fence about going, go. It's worth it.
