    Original 2015 itinerary:

14 May Vancouver, BC Rogers Arena
15 May Vancouver, BC Rogers Arena
18 May San Jose, CA SAP Center at San Jose
19 May San Jose, CA SAP Center at San Jose
22 May Phoenix, AZ US Airways Center
23 May Phoenix, AZ US Airways Center
26 May Los Angeles, CA Forum
27 May Los Angeles, CA Forum
30 May Los Angeles, CA Forum
31 May Los Angeles, CA Forum
--(long gap which meant +1 LA show)
12 June Montreal, QC Bell Centre
13 June Montreal, QC Bell Centre
24 June Chicago, IL United Center
25 June Chicago, IL United Center
--(long gap which meant +3!! Chicago shows)
6 July Toronto, ON Air Canada Center
7 July Toronto, ON Air Canada Center
10 July Boston, MA TD Garden
11 July Boston, MA TD Garden
--(long gap which meant +2 Boston shows)
18 July New York, NY Madison Square Garden
19 July New York, NY Madison Square Garden
22 July New York, NY Madison Square Garden
23 July New York, NY Madison Square Garden
--(end of leg where +4 NY shows were added)

    Comparing it to 2018's itinerary:

May 2 - Tulsa (no gap)
May 4 - St. Louis (almost no gap, slim chance for +1 night)
May 7 - San Jose (probably +1 or +2 night)
May 11 - Las Vegas (possibly +1 night, maybe +2)
May 15 - Los Angeles (+2 nights for sure, no room for much more than that)
May 22 - Chicago (+2 nights for sure, no room for much more than that)
May 26 - Nashville (no gap)
May 28 - Atlanta (long gap, maybe for another city besides a +1 in Atlanta?)
    June 5 - Montreal (possibly +1 night)
    June 9 - Uniondale (possibly +1 night)
    June 13 - Philadelphia (possibly +1 night)
    June 17 - Washington (possibly +1 night)
    June 21 - Boston (possibly +1 night)
June 25 - New York (+1 or +2 nights for sure but there's not room for much more than that!)
June 29 - Newark (end of leg, who knows)

It's much more compressed and overall there's less room for adding cities or extra gigs.
Well, Uniondale, Newark and New York are all practically the same. Might as well just call them all New York.

I think the gap between Atlanta and Montreal might be for +1 Atlanta show and then just long journey north to Montreal (for the crews travelling by road and border crossings) They've also been known to spend a few days in Atlanta going to the King Center and the Carter Library (before the city soured on them anyway and they started skipping us...)

Maybe. I dunno. Just a thought...

makes sense with the JT tour in between. A lot of people will be a bit U2 satiate I guess
  3. I wonder if Canada is getting only one date because U2BROTHR was largely absent from TJT30
  4. I heard that's the case indeed.

I also heard a strong rumour Paris will have 25 shows, largely due to Brigitte having attended all shows in 2017.

  7. Thanks Kirk I was just copying-pasting and stating the obvious though!

Good point about the Canada shows requiring longer distances for the stage and crew, a border crossing etc. Both Toronto and Montreal had long gaps in 2015 and all Canadian shows since 2005 have had at least 3 free days (often 4 or more) prior to them instead of the usual 1-2 between other cities. So yeah, +1 Atlanta and then a few days off for transportation and U2 taking a Georgian break

  8. Good point, and that was going to be the conclusion to my post - I just couldn't be arsed to expand it any further Yes, the 2nd leg of TJT30 has over saturated the North American market and for the first time in a long long time their offer went over the demand. That hadn't happened since 1997 and the Popmart debacle!

So it makes perfect sense that they're approaching 2018's NA leg with more of a cautious approach and doing fewer shows.

but could that mean longer European/rest of the world tour? not really sure

  10. All logic says YES:

Joshua Tree Tour 2017 Leg 1: North America (21 shows)
Joshua Tree Tour 2017 Leg 2: Europe (12 shows)
Joshua Tree Tour 2017 Leg 3: The Americas (18 shows)

But who knows how much logic is there inside the minds of
  11. The main difference with the 2015 I+E part of the tour is that the shows were then announced as pairs (two shows with "two different feels...")

Most cities that ended up with four nights, started out with only a pair. Will see how much will be added, of course, but it is hard to believe that this will be all the NA E+I shows...
