Recording & Mixing Notes:
Recorded multiple feeds through these rehearsals. Occasional static here and there, most of which has been cleaned up. Clicks and counts have been mostly scrubbed, but you might hear a bit leftover here and there. The quiet nature of rehearsals tend to highlight some of the low-level imperfections that a robust crowd might hide.
Show Notes:
Long working day, particlarly for the Edge. Home stretch of rehearsals with the band moving from PNE over to Rogers arena for 3 final days of rehearsals, and then two shows. However, Larry's father passed away over the weekend, so they made a clone and called him Keith. Keith subbed in for the three rehearsal days, with Larry barely making it back in time for the opening night show. The cloning process wasn't exact, so you'll find Edge giving him a fair amount of extra cues and pointers, and some interesting different drumming styles here and there.
Set 1 is a fun Edge workshop where he runs through a bunch of guitar sounds for songs. I particularly like the version of Cedarwood Road, where he plays the whole thing solo on guitar, with no click/counts or band tracks.
Set 2 was a quick session with Edge, Adam, and Keith. I think it was supposed to be longer, but the band got pulled away.
Set 3 is a full workshop set, almost 2.5 hours, with all band members. Band seems like in good spirits, but I imagine there must be a little bit of nerves getting close to opening night and missing Larry.
Set 4 is a full dress rehearsal. After a few false starts on Miracle of Joey Ramone, a very problematic song for them, they're off for a long set. Bono starts to run out of steam during Where the Streets Have No Name, but manages to lead the band through a slightly reworked version of One.

As always, encouraging people to get into taping and mixing. Just take the craft seriously and it will reward you many times over. There's no point in complaining about missing recordings or subpar quality if you're not contributing--pushing 1's and 0's around on the internet is no comparison for taping.
--
IEM recordings are not for everyone. If not they're not your thing, either sonically or ethically, there's excellent alternative recordings out there.
Similarly, I'm mixing primarily for my ears. This is what sounds best to me. This may not sound best to you. That's a fair statement. I'm open to honest criticism (although you should have caught me when I was working on the mix!), but pointless complaining is unappreciated (naturally). Let's play nice. Or maybe lug in recording equipment and make an alternate mix of your own sources.
--
Please don't sell this recording in any way - no cash for blanks, 2:1s, or any other form of "getting paid for your time". Just share it freely.
Please don't convert to mp3, then back to wave, and then trade it around. This stuff is too easy to find on torrents now.
Feel free to remaster/remix this recording. Just keep it to your own computer and iPod.
Also, please don't torrent or share on other sites without at least dropping me a line and asking. This includes Youtube and Guitars101! I may want to just torrent/share it there myself. Just ask permission, it's not that hard.
Please ask (and wait for permission!) before putting it into any matrix + video production. If you ask nicely for a quality high-res video project, I will likely say yes. If you put it on YouTube or cell phone video production without asking, I will send my cats from hell to chew your computer cables.

The cloning process wasn't exact, so you'll find Edge giving him a fair amount of extra cues and pointers, and some interesting different drumming styles here and there.
Set 1 is a full band workshop set. I believe Bono joins after the band has been working for about 30 minutes. They try a couple different arrangements with Bullet, Bono even going back to the original Joshua Tree lyrics. Apparently they try some sort of chair prop, but was dissatisfied to the point of discussing dropping it. I can imagine that Edge is just shaking his head during this discussion with Bono having a diva moment...dropping a centerpiece song after including it in the rehearsal set for several weeks at this point.
Set 2 is a full dress rehearsal. This marks the last time that Bono's lame "Echo Bono" gag shows up, and or the appearance of the acoustic Mysterious Ways. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when Wille or somebody else had a heart to heart with Bono that the "Echo Bono" fake phone call would get an cringe and small laugh the first night, and then fall flat every successive night. I'm amazed it lasted this close to opening night. Bono runs out of steam a bit towards the end, and sleepwalks through Where the Streets Have no Name. Show ends with a nice thank you to Keith. And like the night before, several false starts to Miracle of Joey Ramone before they finally get underway.

Set 1 is a workshop set without a singer. Edge sings in spot places, and spends a fair amount of time working up the electric version of Mysterious Ways. Crew runs a pre-recorded lead vocal track on a few songs.
Set 2 is a full band workshop. Working in the electric version of Mysterious Ways for the first time, after using the acoustic for several weeks. Night ends with big thank you to Keith, and taking pictures with the band.
