1. I get some of the Invisible comparisons. Moreso than Beautiful Day (which I thought it sounded like in those clips. I really like it. It sounds "fallish" aka a fall sounding song for this time of the year.

My only complaint is that it ends so quickly?
  2. Anyone else think of Winter for the first 20 seconds of this song?
  3. Yes
  4. Totally love it.

Surprised in a good way by the lyrics, also.

I'm in the 4 stars camp. Would consider 4.5 before 3.5 though.

I love what I've listened so far (still haven't heard American Soul or the Blackout album version).
Once said that, even if I love Best Thing and GOOYOW, if the album doesn't contain at least a couple of "angrier" songs (I'm counting on you, RFD, don't let me down) to balance all this sweetness out, I'll be seriously disappointed in the album.

IMHO they nailed the pop side of the album, if the rock side is on par then I'll be one really happy camper.

  5. Came to my favorite website to write some reviews about the Joshua Tree Tour concerts I've attended but now I can only listen to this amazing song repeatedly and imagine how awesome it will sound live next year.
  6. Why couldn't they have got Desmond, to do the spoken word part?
The way Bono sings the "Master's looking for someone to need him" line, is foul.

It started as a great song as a letter to his daughters. Then it sucks ass the rest of the way. Liberty smacked in the mouth. Slaves. Masters. Lincoln's ghost. U2 went and ruined a potentially good song. First half is great. Second half is terrible.
  8. Ok, fuck it all. Imma abandon my cynicism and embrace GOOYOW in all its cheesiness, U2-cliche-ness and soft-rock-ness.

    Feels great.

and we're getting back on track... you like what I don't and what I loke you don't

And I think the ooohs in this song (especially on the start) are probably the worst things I've heard in years...
