    That!
  2. Wow, so much negativity. Some of you come off as such pretentious music connoisseurs, definitely not U2 fans. Some guy, that probably contributed nothing compared to U2 in his lifetime when it comes down to creating something, listens to it once and is all alpha and omega towards everybody how bad this is.

Again, what are you doing on this message board? Been reading here for 10 years and haven't seen so much negativity before.

The album is what will have to stand the test of time, not bootlegs or concerts. The album is the artifact, the representation of the band. The album NEEDS to be good.
It's a valid argument I think. I like so little of U2's studio output this millennium. The songs just seem to have room to breath when played live. They just seem strangled on the album. Certainly the past two albums are guilty of that imo but I like quite a few of the songs live. NLOTH, Unknown Caller, MOS, California etc
  4. Definitely sounding much better on Spotify without the compression.

Love the first verse. Killer hook, and Adam high in the mix.

First chorus starts out well, but the transition from to the second verse is bizarre - its almost like this is an early version. Production fx in second verse are totally unnecessary imho, the hook is enough to carry it.

Bridge / middle eight an absolute mess until it breaks into the "I can see what you can't see" part, and the song ends way too abruptly, a much more protracted coda with either the verse hook or the "I can see what you can't see" section - to fade -would have worked much better.

Disjointed and a wee bit disappointed as there is an absolute killer song in there waiting to get out!
  5. Early judgements, I doubt they'll change much:

    1) It's overproduced to the point of nausea.
    2) It has a lot of potential. The beggining is fantastic and Edge's bridge is brilliant.
    3) It will get much much better live.
    4) It's going to be the most divisive and critiziced track for the fanbase since Get On Your Boots.
    5) As a summary, I don't like it but I love that my band isn't afraid of trying new sounds, new things after all these years. It would be too easy to just keep doing Beautiful Day after Beautiful Day.
  6. The Edge and Adam rock this song. Loving the bridge.

Yeah it’s painful to think that they could have done something with this..... Just leave it frighten simple
  8. I do like the song, even with al the added sprinkles, but the huge problem for me is that it sounds like they used cut and paste for several parts... Intro is good, Edge's part amazing, but the flow is terrible.
  9. Unfeasibly dull.

This must be what being an Arsenal fan feels like. It's great Bono's found happiness but he'd be better off writing a tune on a day he had a toothache.

After approaching something of familiarity with SoI the latest two songs are a return to almost offensively innocuous pop.

SoI represented an upturn on what had generally being a decline in the band's music for some time. YTBTAM is the accelerator on that decline.

I mean I agree, but it doesn't mean that the album gets to sound shit because they can correct it live. If that's the case they should go back after each tour and re-record.
