1. It wasn't so much less than desirable (nice to have for so little effort/money as a consumer), but such a wasted effort on the sound quality for the first year of Springsteen releases.

  2. Thank you so much for your kindness. It's a lot of money to spend on a 'bootleg' album and then share it for free. Massively appreciated!

  3. They are amazing! I've downloaded literally, every single one of them! They are sensationally good.

    You're very welcome

These are the kind of discussions that prompt a critical reflection on one's own position and opinion, and I can not but encourage such a thing!

I don't think that u2start is very rigid or even dogmatic in this matter, but at the end of the day there is also something like a standing practice. Something that may only gradually change (no pun intended) over the years.

But as far as the matter of grade inflation is concerned, oddly enough the relative ratings seem better capable of compensating such effects.
Not so much because it leads to less A's and A+, but because their value is still relative to all sorts of parameters (with "encouragement" certainly not being the least).

For example the Seattle iem-matrix. Personally I am slightly disappointed with it because I don't like people counting in my ear when I listen to a concert. It destroys my listening experience and I would certainly mention it when rating it. But I know that this is just my personal preference, and although I think it deserves no more than 4 stars in my book, I would still rate it 4.5. Just because I know that some are highly appreciative of these recordings and would rate it 5. And I think that it is OK for ratings to be 0.5 off. Yes, this is very pragmatic (and perhaps even beyond the point of critical reflection), but I think that u2start is served best with compromises like these.
The fact that the Seattle bootleg is now with a 5 star rating in our database only seems to prove my point.

But be assured that a 5 star Hoserama/Sharebear mix still beats an Empress Valley 5 star - at least it does in my book!
  5. User one8ung has been kind enough to submit his London 1 recording to the u2start database.
I've rated this recording with 3 stars. It's a steady recording but it has a somewhat muddy sound and quite boomy stadion echoes in my opinion.

Please note that this recording is only available in 24 bit / 48kHz flac's.

    .
  6. rome 2 please
  7. Does anyone know if there's any more rehearsal recordings from I&E tour?

    Thanks
  8. Soundboard of London shows would be incredible
  9. Indeed...always wondered why U2 didn't follow the likes of Metallica's lead and make their shows available to download. We know they tape all of them and it would be another revenue stream for them.

It would be an absolute no brainer for The Red campaign fund raising. Why hasn't it been done for the past six years?
  11. All of this is off-topic. This thread is to talk about the recordings that do exist and we upload to the site.
