There are so many bootlegs, and they all have their own highlights. Some of them are superb audience, some of them superb soundboard and some of them just suck.
But what is considered to be the best bootleg if we speak about performance? The official DVD's are forbidden, so you can't choose Boston, Slane, Sydney etc.
I go for Point Depot 26-12 or RDS Arena 1993..what do you guys say?
Elevation Tour - Gund Arena,Cleveland,Ohio - 3rd May 2001
Even though this is No2 in my top 10 behind New Years Eve @ Point Depot,"Beautiful Night In Cleveland" is an absolute gem, both in terms of quality recording & performance.
ok.... i'll nominate Gothenburg 2005-07-29 from the Vertigo Tour..... i really love this show!!!!
it was raining during the performance and bono refers to the rain alot during the show.... examples of this include....
i) snippet of "can't stand the rain" in elevation
ii) snippet of "rain" at the end of one before "do you hear us coming lord?" and also after the performance of one (aka Unchained Melody)
iii) in sunday bloody sunday bono sings "father abraham who is to blame..... father abraham sent down the rain".... pretty cool!!!
iv) in miss sarajevo in the chorus he sings "and here she comes..... just like the rain"
v) and finally in the second vertigo bono sings "hello hello... im at a place called vertigo.... rain comes down and all i know................."
really really love this concert and the quality of the bootleg is outstanding!!!! if ya don't have it getit!!!!
Of course everyone has his own vision of what is the best....depending on the setlist and preferite tour.
I'd say that one of the best concert I've seen (on DVD) is
2001-12-02 - Miami, Florida - American Airlines Arena
Really cool concert IMO and being post 9/11 is very moving
obviously I can't forget the outstanding performaces of
1993-08-28 - Dublin, Ireland - R.D.S. Arena
1993-11-27 - Sydney, Australia - Cricket Sports Ground
1987-11-18 - Los Angeles, California - Memorial Coliseum
For me its a tie between Piont Depot New Years Eve 89, and Dublin RDS 1993.
You can really feel the energy and enjoyment of the band in these performances.
