    Lyrics:
The future needs a big kiss
    Winds blows with a twist
Never seen a moon like this
    Can you see it too?

    Night is falling everywhere
    Rockets at the fun fair
    Satan loves a bomb scare
    But he won’t scare you

    Hey, sexy boots
    Get on your boots, yeah

You free me from the dark dream
    Candy floss ice cream
    All our kids are screaming
    But the ghosts aren’t real

    Here’s where we gotta be
    Love and community
    Laughter is eternity
    If joy is real

    You don’t know how beautiful
You don’t know how beautiful you are
You don’t know, and you don’t get it, do you?
You don’t know how beautiful you are

    That’s someone’s stuff they’re blowing up
    We’re into growing up
    Women of the future
    Hold the big revelations

    I got a submarine
    You got gasoline
I don’t want to talk about wars between nations

    Not right now

    Hey sexy boots...
    Get on your boots, yeah
    Not right now
    Bossy boots

    You don’t know how beautiful
You don’t know how beautiful you are
You don’t know, and you don’t get it, do you?
You don’t know how beautiful you are

    Hey sexy boots
I don’t want to talk about the wars between the nations
    Sexy boots, yeah

    Let me in the sound
    Let me in the sound
Let me in the sound, sound
Let me in the sound, sound
    Meet me in the sound

    Let me in the sound
Let me in the sound, now
    God, I’m going down
    I don’t wanna drown now
    Meet me in the sound

    Let me in the sound
    Let me in the sound
Let me in the sound, sound
Let me in the sound, sound
    Meet me in the sound

    Get on your boots
    Get on your boots
    Get on your boots
    Yeah hey hey

hmm...the chorus with Edge sounds still a bit weird.

    Oh there's the gasoline line...

This also sounds a bit Egyptian or so...

And I think of Radiohead's Bangers N Mash

    There's the hiphop twist...

    Wow, Jack White solo

Get on your Boots yeah yeah yeah

    Cool song

It's a grower indeed. Really like the solo at the end of the sudden HipHop-twist.

  4. A jazzed up version of 'fast cars' hope the album sounds better.

49 listens later........ it's fekin' amazing. this don't need no compost, it's a natural grower
  5. Where to begin? Alright....

Fast Cars comes to mind with the lyrics...the guitar sounds like something up Jack White's arsenal, the synths remind me a tad of Zooropa and Pop, Bono's voice is higher up....really promising for the tour....the guitar solo was lacking, but live it could be a beast. Part of the bridge has this trashcan esque feel like how Zoo Station felt for the first time. I love how the guitar just tears at your soul, making me want more. Can't wait for Late Feb!!
  6. loved it, really rocking it, but still different from HTDAAB. sounds live a bitch to play live, but it will be great.
  7. Upon first listening it took me about a minute to figure out what was happening. This certainly sounds new and fresh, without doubt a grower, and it's getting better with every listen. Can't wait to listen with headphones, there is a lot going on in this track. Great riff, the drums are awesome, great melody, my favorite part right now is the middle eight / "hip hop breakdown", that is by far one of the more exciting moments in any U2 song. and Bono's croaking right before it is pretty badass. Can't wait to hear it in the context of the entire album
  8. The first time I heard it I couldn't follow the song, but after listening for the second-100 times I really rocks... Drums and guitar are sooo cool. So are the lyrics and bass... Don't know they are gonna play this live... but they will figure out...

What a change from Vertigo... lovely...

  9. The beauty of live backing tracks my man. If they hold true to the sound of the studio mix, I can see something along the lines of New York, i.e. playing a drum loop through the PA (not to mention the other shizzle going on like the jingly stuff). Alternatively, Larry will just be beating the living crap out of his skins and it'll be something else

For my part, I think the first thing that struck me is, like Neil McCormick said in his blog, the drums. Lot of layering, reminded me of New York (as I mentioned above regarding potential live setups), and I have to say I liked it. It wasn't anything like I was expecting, and I'm glad. The whole thing kinda mad me think of soft metal but without the excessive shouting, fuzzing etc.

Next thing - Edge. Gritty guitarwork for the main riff, strange mesmeric solo-part, nice fills elsewhere - if this is a sign of things to come, then I'm really getting excited. It reminds me of heavily of Discothéque and Mofo mixed with the gritty in-yer-face rock'n'roll of Vertigo. I didn't really get much of a feel for the bass, but that should come with more listening.

EDIT - now I'm listening to the U2.com version, it comes out a lot better

Re. Bono, the comparisons with Fast Cars regarding the style of the lyrics are fairly obvious but I look on it as a positive. Fast Cars was the most different thing that came out of HTDAAB (as in the actual final album, not B-sides etc.) and it feels like the band have used it as a platform to move on and produce something.

Conclusion - it's a grower, for sure, but I'm glad. I didn't want to hear something that I was going to think "same old, same old" and then flick back to something like Streets - I'm gonna be listening to it again and again for a good while yet and, y'know what? I'm starting to really like it.
  10. The good:
    - nice change from ATYCLB and HTDAAB, some inventioning
    - cool rhythm
    - great verses
    - Bono's voice is nice

    The bad:
    - chorus is a bit...unnatural... I wonder how it sounds live
    - The guitar is lacklustre...but then again live this simple riff can be a killer.

Overall I like this song, but MUCH will depend on how they play it live.
U2 has many songs that are nothing special in studio, but AWESOME live (ex. Ultraviolet)
    We'll see
  11. after further review...its not terrible...just a little...off for me...I dunno
  12. Crank up the volume a wait till the chorus rips in. It sounds awesome
