1. dear all

I have roughly 1000 old tapes from U2 ( 1979 - 1998 ). I have been following this site ( and downloading a lot ... ) and it feels a waste to just let go of these tapes ( or basically have them stored without listening ). Some of my recordings might be more complete, maybe a better quality, maybe slightly different or simply worse. I am looking for someone interested in digitalising the ones that might be interesting or all ... . I am a techno-dinosaurus, so let me know some thoughts on how you would handle it and maybe multiple persons can help out. I can compare my notes and quality rating of the tapes with this site, most are 2nd or 3rd genaration copies, or maybe you look for specific shows.

    best regards

Hi Gerd! Thanks a lot for your kind offer - we agree that it would be a shame to let that collection go to waste. With such a huge collection I'm sure you got something that we don't, maybe even some unreleased (to the public) recordings. What format are your tapes on? Standard cassette?
  3. This is an awesome thing to reach out about, Gerd - I hope we can find a way to at least view what's in your collection and at most, help you get it out there for the public!

    i will follow this thread
  4. They are all standard tapes ( most chrome ) & I have an Excel list with an overview, but no clue on how to upload it here, & feels a bit silly to create a massive copy in this field. Any ideas ?
Unreleased I doubt, but you never know. If someone knows which shows are incomplete / bad quality, they can point them out and I can check it out what I have e.g. Maybe the recording can also be cleaned up, no idea on what is possible.

I haven't looked at it myself yet so I can't make any comment other than please no one hassle him about this. Converting tapes is a time consuming job.
