1. alright, so i've noticed there's a few other Jane's fans lurking around here, and figured since there isn't a thread for them, i'd go right ahead and make one.

for the uninitiated (i'm not sure how popular/famous they are in the states, i know they're not very huge anymore in the UK) they're like a mix of the Cure, RHCP and Led Zeppelin; in fact they were often called "the Zeppelin of the 90s".

so yeah, get discussing, people! i recommend these songs in particular:

  2. Got to see them live last fall, here are a couple cool shots: We were right in front, Perry reached out and grabbed onto my hand more times than I could keep track of. Handed down his bottle of wine after the show, too

Favorite songs are definitely Been Caught Stealin' and Just Because
  3. damnnnn, being that close must've been sweet, i'm desperate to see them live. i was gonna see them at Leeds festival but Perry had to pull out at the 11th hour, so the Live Voodoo DVD's gonna have to keep my going for now.

great pics though, especially the first one.
  4. Thanks! Yeah we waited outside the venue for a few hours and got a pretty sweet spot in the front once doors opened. Glad you started a thread for them, they're a great 80s/90s band.
  5. I still need to get into them. I've listened to the 3 or 4 songs Matt has mentioned every now and then but nothing more.
  6. certainly one of the "weirdest" band
their 2 first studio albums are amazing, sort of a trip, meaning the hallucinogen kind hehe; their catalogue is not so vast, contrariwise, due to also the fact that Perry Farrell is not an easy one to deal with for sure.
good their return of the last year.
cool thing is their debut album is live like very few others i guess .. just MC5 comes to mind
  7. this performance is one of my favourites, it's so chilled out (and it's from their brief period with Duff from GN'R):

  8. Agree with the ''weirdest'' bit, is he poof or not?
  9. by the way Porno for Pyros deserve a listen at least too
  10. i'm pretty sure he's married with kids, so i doubt it.

and yeah PFP are great too!
  11. The most underrated band of all time. Fact. I really should have started a thread about this, but now, I'm glad someone did.

They are a weird band, for sure. But not just for their music, but the fact that they have a deceiving chemistry amongst them. One day they could be as friendly as Bill & Ben, but the next, they will be thinking of splitting up the band because they aren't getting on anymore.

The music is great. Nothing's Shocking is a great debut album, and the first time I heard it - it sounded as fresh as a daisy to me. It was fine alternative rock, but with a twist. They made it heavier. Ritual de lo Habitual is another great record. Three Days is one of my favourite songs ever, as it's a near 11 minute song, but in the end, it feels like it only went on for about 7. Dave Navarro's solo is devastatingly awesome. Although, he is certainly an underrated guitarist.

It was a shame that they split up after that. They came back numerous times, but failed. Strays was heavily disappointing comprared to the other two albums, but there was a couple decent tracks on it. I've yet to listen to The Great Escape Artist, but I'm only going to do that when I pick up cheap.

Just noticed that I wrote a mini article - haha
  12. i think Strays were a great straight, modern-sounding rock album, but it lacked the sort of mysticism and spirituality (for lack of a better word) that their original albums have. if it were release by a different band i'd have thought about it differently.
