1. And very similar to a Springsteen song in terms of telling a big story in a short song
  2. Yeah, Berry was one of the pioneers.

And please, everyone, also read this wonderful lyrics at least just once:

It was a teenage wedding, and the old folks wished them well
You could see that Pierre did truly love the mademoiselle
And now the young monsieur and madame have rung the chapel bell
"C'est la vie", say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell

They furnished off an apartment with a two room Roebuck sale
The coolerator was crammed with TV dinners and ginger ale
But when Pierre found work, the little money comin' worked out well
"C'est la vie", say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell

They had a hi-fi phono, boy, did they let it blast
Seven hundred little records, all rock, rhythm and jazz
But when the sun went down, the rapid tempo of the music fell
"C'est la vie", say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell

They bought a souped-up jitney, 'twas a cherry red '53
They drove it down to Orleans to celebrate the anniversary
It was there that Pierre was married to the lovely mademoiselle
"C'est la vie", say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell

Pure Poetry (with the capital P)

I had never read the lyrics like this, always mumbled them with inventing or filling in the words I didn't know. Thanks for writing them like this It's indeed a sped-up Springsteen-like storytelling song
  4. Forget Western Stars...here's Western Stars: Music From the Film

  5. Nice to see some familiar faces (Soozie, Charlie, Lisa) in the video apart from Bruce and Patti
  6. Western stars. I’ll keep this one short, awesome. Going to see the film tonight too can’t wait.
  7. I am curious, just let us know your opinion
  8. I really enjoyed the film tonight, for me it added a bit of depth to the songs. Not overly long little introductions about them and some really fitting clips to go with. It makes you think a lot about family, the people closest to you, your own experiences in life so far. It wasn’t done in an overly sentimental way just more about reflecting on stuff but then getting on with it if that makes sense. The songs were performed very well, the album is great anyway but if you don’t already own a copy you don’t need to just buy the cd of the film instead.
  9. Side note. A cousin of mine just graduated to the New Jersey fire department. Bruce’s son graduated in the same class.
