Prime minister said measures like in france and Italy aren’t the way. We need dosed containment. Like other diseases we need to build up our immunesytem but not get to many sick at once for the greater benefit. Hospitals are in code red.
Total lockdown isn’t the way to beat this (i hope)
I'm leaning towards this line of thinking as well. Total lock-down doesn't work but a slow spread does (while keeping the elderly separate)..

Saying this will work but that’s basically saying older people are just necessary casualties. I don’t think this idea will be possible without infecting everybody.
  3. We in America have been hearing and reading a lot of news...

By Friday we are expected to be in quarantine.

April 1-30 will possibly have internet and tv blackouts.. weird stuff to come I hear. I don’t understand why internet and TV would be down but it’s a rumor.
  4. I live near Columbus, Ohio. Everything has pretty much shut down. No restaurants/bars (drive-thru/Carryout only), no movie theaters/malls/casinos/etc, no school, no events of more than 50 people. Our local primary election just got postponed to June. As of now, school is closed until April 6th, but we're pretty sure it's going to be cancelled for the rest of the school year (End of May). Luckily my wife is a school teacher at the same school our kids attend, so they're all on the same page. She's been busting her ass trying to get her curriculum transferred to be taught online. We're lucky she will still be receiving a paycheck.

As for me, I work in the Agriculture field, and we will be getting really busy here in about 2 weeks. My job is likely to be unaffected by all this. Luckily, most of my work during this time will take place by myself, in large, open fields. Frankly, I'm ready to get busy, I'm excited for the distraction.
  5. Here in Canada schools are shut down, toilet paper is scarce and I really am not sure if I will be working next week. Very scary but I take comfort in knowing that it isn't just me feeling this way. We have entered the "unknown" for the first time in my 52 years on this planet.
  6. University is out for the semester; classes are all online

Internet and TV blackouts? What sources are talking about that?
  8. Universities are shut here in Austria, just like schools and all non-essential services. Many tank stations are also closed, to discourage people from traveling. We're home, or outside, with a 5 and a 3 yo. It's home office in theory. We work when we can, we alternate looking after the kids. We've installed an office space in our bedroom. We're behind Italy, but the spread isn't slowing. Cases go up 20% every day or so.
  9. I'm told we're two weeks away from completely crammed hospitals here too.
  10. Working from home starting today, but will still need to go in to work from time to time just for essential tasks that will take no more than an hour. Government advice in the UK is very confusing for some. People told to work from home where possible and to avoid social gatherings but pubs and restaurants haven’t been explicitly told to shut So they remain open to survive financially but people have been told to go nowhere near them. Schools also remain open. Supermarkets are being stripped bare of toilet rolls, dried pasta, tinned foods, long life milk etc. There’s unfortunately going to be a lot of suffering for many people.
