1. Since there's a lot of discussion in every thread for each show I thought it might be usefull to make a own thread purely for setlist discussions, so that the show threads could just focus on, you guessed it, the shows.

So, what do you want to see in the setlist or what do you think will happen when the tour progresses? Which songs would fit the themes of the night?

If you guys think this thread is useless just lock it.
  2. Well... hope more Lucifer's Hands, hope no more Sweetest Thing (don't work well on this tour), songs like Pride and Mysterious Ways doesn't need to be played every show (Mysterious Ways can be replaced by more "surprises" in some shows, and Pride can be replaced by Running to Stand Still).... With or Without You can rotate with I Still Haven't Found... (please, stop to close shows with this tune, it deserves a better place on setlist)... close with 40 and One is ok, 40 is perfect to close and new version of One sounds fresh... they need to open the encore with another song, COBL is boring, maybe EBW full band, or something with Ultraviolet's impact like on 360.... set 1 is amazing, don't need changes, but in the cities with several concerts, they could try Tomorrow before Iris, or at least snippet, like Mofo in Vancouver... they don't need a complete setlist changed, we know they aren't like Bruce Springsteen on their "political of setlist" but U2 is U2 and they are strong to quit a bit out for their confort zone...oh, almost forgot... EBW acoustic surelly could be replaced by full version of The Hands That Built America... the last "Americaaaaaa" segues into Bullet the Blue Sky... would be nice too.

    Peace
  3. You guys are nuts if you think 90% of the audience would be okay hearing either Pride or Running to Stand, or even rotating any hits for that matter. Despite the interest in hardcore U2 fans for hearing oddities and not seeing as many hits in the set, the crowd response for every one of those tunes in Montreal the past two nights speaks for itself. See it from U2's point of view. They throw in the odd song and stuff to please those who need that, but the rest are to please the majority of the crowd. How can you dispute that? As a hardcore U2 fan I enjoy hearing Pride just as much as something like Lucifer's Hands.

They do it with two of their biggest hits: One and I Still Haven't Found so why not with some other songs too? Putting One in a rotation spot is a huge move for U2.
  5. That's true, and I'm totally surprised by it. I'll say though if I hadn't been there both nights I might been annoyed not hearing the one I wouldn't have.
  6. Well, I think that is not impossible for U2, the changes that I suggested fits perfectly on setlist... on 360 they dropped Pride on several concerts... that changes aren't really based on my musical taste... if was like this , I will request Luminous Times, Walk to the Water, Holy (shit) Joe, but this is impossible, and I know it... rotation with hits are extremally possible for U2, they don't will drop hits forever, but can rotate some of them, like the closer song
  7. From the Montreal thread:

The energy of Streets is wasted being sandwiched between two speeches and followed by Still. Streets might not do well as a closer, but it would do great to open the encore. Drop the Mother and Child Reunion, put up a big red screen and kick off the encore with some energy! Not to say that COBL doesn't have energy, but it's lethargic compared to Streets.

I'm really thankful that they have been rotating the closer. It spares us from having Still close every night. And the new One is great!
  8. I hope they will play Kite sometime. It's the only song from ATYCLB I really like, also Staring At The Sun and full band Stay would be nice options at the 14/15 spot.
Especially SATS and Stay shouldn't be too hard, right?
  9. barajax great idea setting up this thread as it does clutter the show threads and usually leads to a punch up !!
  10. The song 14 & 15 slot is shaping up nicely:

    Angel Of Harlem
    Desire
    Sweetest Thing
    When Love Comes To Town
    Ordinary Love
California (There Is No End To Love)
    Elevation
    Volcano
    In God's Country
    Lucifer's Hands
Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of

The occasional song 20 slot is great when it happens

    The troubles
    Bad
    All I want is you

This slot should be filled every night with more songs added

The song 2 slot needs a shake up - Gloria / 11 O' clock tick tock

The I will follow slot needs to rotate - Tomorrow / Mofo

The closing song slot needs a shake up - Moment of surrender / Bad / All I want is you would all work

All only my opinion of course
  11. The main body of Set 1 is perfect (Iris - Wolves)
