Performance notes: All Along The Watchtower was recorded here for Rattle & Hum; this is the first time U2 had performed it since 1 February 1981 and it is so ramshackle that it was touched up in the studio before the commercial release. In the middle of Sunday Bloody Sunday, Bono sees a sign with 'SF' & 'U2' on it. Bono mistakes the 'SF' as Sinn Fein (rather than San Francisco) and has a fit. During Out Of Control, Bono sings a mangled lyric that combines references from Sexual Healing and Dancing On The Ceiling into one short snippet.

Performance

For an outdoor concert the bands performance is exceptional, the low end of Larry's and Adam's equipment is a little hard to hear in this recording. Bono makes multiple mistakes during the show, forgetting lines and where he is during some songs. Edge's play is very good, during the entire the show.

During Pride the bands improve is at its best, Edge starts with the oh-oh-oh as Bono leave the stages, and then the rest of the band continues acoustic playing of the corus waiting for Bono to return.

Sound

The quality of the bootleg is solid, however not perfect. There are times during the show that feedback from mics occurs. For an outdoor concert at the time, very good.

Audience

Audience becomes quite involved with the concert at different times, most noticiable during Pride.

Overall

A true raw outdoor performance. Engagement with the crowd takes place at some level on almost every song. Three significant points in this short concert (aka 'Save the Yuppies' in reference to the stock market crass of October 19th) occur during SBS, S&G, and Pride. During SBS Bono verbally questions a fans sign of 'SF+U2' asking the fan if the reference is for a girls name or is it in reference to Shein Fein of the IRA. He then verbally continues his questioning of Shein Fein tactics over the past week and the killing of 11 innocent women and children. During Silver and Gold, Bono again goes a little off topic discussing little Steven 'records against apartheid, the problems in South Africa, and why the song was created. Lastly, during Pride Bono leave the stage (leaving Edge and the rest of the band looking around!) climbs a concrete structure in the plaza and writes the famous ' Rock and Roll Stops the Traffic' in spray paint.
