Performance

A little more choreographed than usual, but still on great form. Bono's voice stood up well even though come the end of the tour he struggles with some of the high notes so doesn't even bother! Love the fact that after all these years he still gets the words and timing wrong on some of the songs. Great stuff.

Great to hear a strong Berlin section and despite shunning some of the big numbers that have been the cornerstone of shows for decades, it didn't suffer. Saying that, by the time it got to Manchester and London, the set was a lot better than earlier in the tour, where it looked very I&E top heavy and if I'm honest fairly unexciting; thankfully they ditched some of the Innocence songs for some 1990s stuff.
The only downside was a rather limp encore and ending. 13 is not a song on which to finish (isn't really a live song at all tbh) and then to walk off the b-stage to the nearby exit while the rest of the band were on the main stage and the lights were just turned off was something of an anti-climax as the audience didn't get the chance to give the band the send off it deserved after such a great show.

It's a U2 show, so no encouragement required!

Overall

A long trip to south London from the Midlands was well rewarded, the O2 is a fantastic venue even if the location is terrible and hard to get to. The show was every bit as good as it was in Manchester four days earlier. I was concerned that with exactly the same stage set up it wouldn't really have moved on from 2015 but it had a very different feel to it - I guess the fact that some of the songs were redone on SoE to reflect changing times came across in the live show. Funny to think that while the 2015 shows seem so close, we as a country have changed so much.
It was as a U2 concert is and always has been - immersive, electrifying and the band gives the audience plenty to feed on no just with the music, but all the associated AV. Brilliant opening. Loved the Hold Me Thrill Me video. As mentioned above, a weak ending. Long journey home. Still buzzing three days later.
