My 2nd and last show on this tour. I was lucky enough to meet some people whom I had been in contact with for a very
long time. I Liked this night over night one. The band seemed to be a little more relaxted and had more contact with
The most important part in the whole of this was done by a couple of people the night before. Only thing I needed to
do that previous night was finding the Bono-mic (which wasn't located yet). The majority of the tapers didn't put to
much energy in searching for it because it's not a spectacular feed. For mixingpurposes it's one of the most important
ones if you ask me. After ten minutes of active searching I found it, being confirmed by another taper.
Night 2 was a night which I wont soon forget. In the end I ruined all my recordings due to my own stupidyness.
Thankfully enough my buddy Heitelan_Taper was a couple of sections at my right running the same rig. His recordings came
out great, with only some minor fuzz here and there. MLK_Luke was generous enough to share me his audience recording.
It was nice meeting you after such a long time (+10yrs)!
My first full-mix of a JT2017-show. This is a mix of a couple IEM feeds with the original Schoeps audio. So it contains
the 20sec gap in the middle of Sunday Bloody Sunday (if you listen closely you can hear it).
The crowdnoise isn't that intrusive on this one. There are a couple of recordings out there that have more crowdnoise,
but since I ruined my own recordings, I had to give something back to the people who did produced.
Unfortunately the B-mic was taped with a receiver with less headroom, resulting in some compressed levels.
I had to repair that first to get a smoother sounding vocal. Mixing it in has given me more headaches. Finding the right
balance between the instruments and the vocals is/was hard. Hope you'll like the result.
I've done some tricks to get the metronome and counts out, but you still can hear remnants at particular songs.
Still needs some practicing I guess. As said before Edge's feed suffered from a little fuzz here and there. It's not
that disturbing, so I decided to leave it as it was. Repairing it would for sure damaged the music.
In the end there are a couple of people I need to thank. Firstly Heitelan_Taper and MLK_Luke. Without these people
this mix wouldnt have existed! Last and certainly not least.. Hoserama. With all your advices and tips over the past
couple of years this result wouldnt have sounded the way it does now. Thanks again for the your patience & understanding,
and just being great!

NOTES: ArenA is not exactly famous for its excellent acoustic but this
one is not so bad. I accidentally pressed the stop button on the recorder
while it was not locked during SBS while I was checking levels but luckily
I noticed that on time so I just had a 20 seconds hole that I filled using
chatts99 recording as a patch (thank you for that)

S1 e30, "The End of the World" (May 9, 1958).
After one8ung shared his recording on u2torrents as 24-bit (48kHz), I asked
him for permission to convert the files into 16-bit 44.1kHz to be shared on
u2start, possibly even with an iZotope RX05 de-clap & clean-up treatment.
The sample I sent seemed to be convincing, and now the remaster is ready.
Personally I am very happy with one8ung's recording with the Ca-11 omni's -
according to someone at dime "a daring attempt," since the Amsterdam Arena (at
some point in time to be named: Johan Cruyff Arena) is notorious for having an
annoying echo. But the recording came out surprisingly well, catching a great sound
from the speakers and some wonderful community singing by the crowd. And I was even
more surprised when I learned that one8ung made his recording from a 2nd ring seat
in the back of the stadium! But what did I know? I was dancing my ass off in the pit!
Anyway, as to be expected, besides the incredible U2, the CA-11 omni's picked up
some severe screams and whistles, as well as the usually clapping and neighbour chat.
Apart from some chat between songs, most could be eliminated with iZotope's "Spectral
Repair." I applied some equalization to turn down the (sub) bass and slightly boost
presence (3600-8400 Hz range) – something that can be easily adjusted by using the
treble and bass controls if one finds my mix a bit "too much," or "too little."
THANKS again to one8ung and his daring, but fortunate choice for using the CA-11 omni's!

The second of the 2 shows literally 30 years to the day I first saw U2 playing the original
Joshua Tree tour at Murrayfield in Edinburgh, Scotland on 1st August 1987. I would love to have
gone to Brussels for my anniversary but as they were only playing the 1 show and it being midweek
2 nights in Amsterdam it became.
The troubles of Saturday are listed below and there were no such issues for Sunday, the weather was
fine come show time, no issues with tickets, got to see NGHFB and got closer to the spot I wanted
for the main act. A few rows back and slightly left of the the B-stage, in line with the stacks.
The recording could possibly do with a volume boost but I feel it to be slightly better then
Saturdays, I do have to apologise for my reaction at the start of ASOH, and I shouldnt give up my
day job, sorry.
Now, Saturday in no way went as planned many things contrived to
put me in an absolutely foul mood. My plane was slightly delayed taking off, OK that allowed me
an extra beer, no big deal. Flight was OK. Getting through Schipol fine. But delays getting the
train getting into Amsterdam, starting to wind me up a bit. Get to my hotel, not the room I
booked, apparently there is a difference between a twin bedded room for single occupancy,
this is what I had booked and requested a double bed, and a single room with 1 twin bed ie a
single bed!!! Now im really not enjoying myself. Hotel couldnt do anything as "fully booked"
Tried to relax, started getting ready for the show, it starts to rain. At this point I have know
idea that the roof is closed (phew), but im thinking SHIT im gonna get soaked even with hat and
kagool. Metro, rammed as engineering works on the mainline, can anything else go wrong.......
Get to the Arena still chucking it down, take out my "collectors ticket/credit card size/nice
momento JT logo and date on the front, perfect.... NO. I get to the entrance, "Sir Im sorry this
ticket is for Sunday not Saturday" Says the very polite lady at the gate, "But it says 29 July
on the ticket" says I. She shows me the back of the ticket and yes there it says Zondag 30 July
and the bar code that is supposed to let me in says NO, it appears a few tickets had this problem.
Off to the information desk/box office/ticketmaster kiosk... no one qite knows which one and of
course its the exact opposite corner of the stadium to where I am still getting incredibly wet.
Eventually get the ticket thing sorted, its now 19.00 NGHFB due on, run round back to my entrance.
In can hear them starting, not going to be able to record them so decide get a drink, find a good
spot wire up and check levels. Ah, I need to get an Arena card for drinks, good job im coming back
tomorrow...... into the Stadium, first good thing that has happened in my favour all day, the roof
is closed YES. Because of the rain probably more people inside at this time then normal, so cant get
as close as I was hoping to to the B-stage, got a lot closer Sunday night. One final rant for Saturday,
there are none whatsoever for Sunday you will be glad to hear, I ended up having a few beers during the
early part of the show. As the JT ended I rushed to the toilet, got back as the intro to Miss Sarajevo
was beginning so no music lost. This last part was therefore recorded further back in the stadium, no
noticeable loss in sound quality but a noticeable lack of quality in the audience a lot more talkers
so I had to move about a bit. Sunday being that much closer, around with proper fans, not too much talking
although being a lot more psyched for Sunday after my problems Saturday you will all have to excuse me
at the start of ASOH, at least I will know if my recording gets pressed or passed as someone else's.
Sorry just had to let you all know........... and breathe.....
Still had a great time, 2 fantastic shows. Possibly would have liked to have heard/seen "The Little Things"
instead of possibly Mysterious Ways but not going to let that in any way spoil my enjoyment. I hadnt watched
too many video clips as knew the visuals were going to be amazing and they were that and more.
I hope those of you who download find some enjoyment in my recordings, I have a slight preference for Night 2,
maybe both could benefit with a little tweaking but Im not skilled in that way. I record primarily for myself
and then to share. I will upload to U2T, happy for anyone to upload on DIME, Im sure they will make their way
onto U2Start just please no selling.

"U2 concerts are categorically not fundraisers for any politicians. They are Rock concerts for U2 fans"
did you know
Although instrumental, the song '4th Of July' was recorded on the 4th of July, it is about how they felt that day. The Edge was playing the guitar, completely unaware that Brian Eno (one of the producers) was recording it.
