1. Every month we put an U2 fan in the spotlights, the fan of the month December of 2013 is user Curlin. Read along for the interview we had this this U2 fan.

Tell us something about yourself, who are you and what do you do for a living?
I'm a photographer for a living, even though I pretty much live to write. Still working on making money for the latter.

How did you become a fan of U2, tell us how it happened?
It all started with the radio singles for "All That You Can't Leave Behind," and blossomed from there. It was 2001, and I was a senior in high school. I bought the album the summer before I went to college and fell head over heels in love. That fall, I got to see them live for the first time, and I never looked back. The show still stands as one of the most breathtaking concerts I've ever seen.

What would you like to ask U2 if you got the chance to?
"Seriously, guys, what's it gonna take for you to play "God Part II" in concert again??"

Did you ever have a special U2 experience like a live concert? Can you tell us something about it?
It's hard to pick just one. Getting "One Tree Hill" in Chicago was one of the best moments ever, but then there's also the Nashville show, when Bono brought up the blind guitar player on stage. Personally, finding the Joshua tree out in the desert was one of the most meaningful moments I've ever had as a U2 fan. There's nothing like listening to the album out in the desert, but to find the tree, even in its fallen state, was a holy grail.

Where do you most prefer to listen to U2?
I love to road trip, so probably in my car. Listening to music on the road gives it a whole new context depending on where you are.

In your opinion, what has been U2's defining moment and why?
Starting over from scratch to make "Achtung Baby" and redefining their image was a ballsy move for the band. I mean, how many bands can survive that? They were at the top of the world and decided to change their entire sound for their next album. I don't know how many bands, if any, could get away with that.

When you're forced to leave to a deserted island and you can take only one U2 album with you, which would it be?
    Joshua Tree

What is your favorite U2 videoclip, and why?
Oh this is way too difficult! If I was forced to choose, I might pick the performance of "With Or Without You" from Rattle and Hum. Not only was it beautifully filmed, it's one of the best versions of that song ever. I mean, it's when the "shine like stars" tag was commonplace!

How different is U2 compared to other artists that you like?
I appreciate how I can get a GA ticket to their show cheaper than any other band of their caliber, and I don't get shut out of being able to buy tickets as a fan club member. U2 may not be the most tech-savvy band when it comes to their online presence, but all I care about is getting a chance to see them and not have to mortgage my house for it. I don't need them to constantly tweet updates or have exclusive merch as long as they keep making great music.

What are your hobbies and interests away from U2, musical or otherwise?
I'm a huge fan of Jack White and any band he's in. I also really got into Pearl Jam the last few years and am making a trip to Seattle in a couple days to see the last show of their tour. Pearl Jam is the only band I've seen live that rivals the U2 concert experience. That's saying a lot! Now if only I could score some GA tickets to see them...
