Three days to go until the movie for us here in Australia - I'm going to the last session (9.15pm) on Thursday, the first day of showing.

yeah we just can't get enough of this U2 love if they hadn't stopped showing it in my area here, I'm sure I'd have gone many more times have a great time!!
I went to the movie last night and all I can say at this point is wow. This is what 3D was meant to do.
The show started about 7.00, maybe even a little later. There was no U2 playing before the curtains opened, but it was certainly sold out from where I was sitting at the back. It might not have been but it looked like it. It looked like RealD went to a bit of effort with the glasses, which weren't just the paper things with red and green or red and blue. Oh no, these actually looked like real, proper sunglasses - and actually looked cool.
The beginning was like a hybrid of both 2D and 3D with the fans at the ticket stiles and slowly mixing through to 3D. As some of you might know, part of the film was done in 2D and then dubbed over to 3D. I'd have to say Vertigo was probably the best part of the entire show - this is where the 3D really came into play. At least the cinema put the sound right up and didn't have it whisper-quiet like from some others that I've spoken to. The middle part of the show (Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own > Love and Peace > Sunday Bloody Sunday > Bullet The Blue Sky), I felt was on par with Vertigo and had lots of great 3D effects - especially when the band is shown up close with more panning and zooming of the camera.
For example, watch Adam swing his bass around and almost knock you for six, or Bono reaching out to you during Sunday Bloody Sunday - you could have reached out to him. The drums looked like they were coming out towards you, and there were plenty of shots of Larry - and Edge playing the piano during Miss Sarajevo and playing the guitar like no tomorrow.
Compared to a true high-definition broadcast (1080p), U2:3D looked and sounded a hundred times better. The colours were vivid, the sound was absolutely stunning (the vocals were worked over hellishly), and for those of you who have listened to / watched the BA 2006 bootleg would know how bad Bono lost his voice. I did notice, however, that With or Without You had signs of bad vocals and it was actually improved a bit. Not to a point it was brilliant, but enough.
When that part came on, it surprised me how many people got up and left. They obviously didn't know that a final song was to come - and when Yahweh started to play, they kept walking. A beautiful song to finish off a beautiful show. Hopefully more bands (and U2) do more 3D concert films - honestly, I cannot wait.

you know, I'm sitting here reading your words, and you take me back there, and I could just re-live the experience, wow. and I've seen it four times, so you would think the excitement has calmed down a bit -- no way you have just taken me back to the cinema and I felt the same way about the movie in general and the scenes you described. thanks for writing your thoughts down, gave me the shivers
Last week, i was stunned by the fact the film suddenly came to Belgium !!!
But they only play it for week so i just went to the cinéma and came back 100% satisfied !
Really, great vocals of Bono (i do not agree his voice i bad now, listen how pure and powerful it it was in the film), musically great, awesome effects with highlights Bono "wiping my tears away" at SBS, Adam's guitar in my face, crazy audience and perfect The Fly with letters and slogans surrounding me... If it was possible i went to it wright away !!
