I'm expecting a new concert DVD from the new tour well before this is ever released for home viewing.

Will this ever be released in Spain? There is the possibility that I go to Spain and then Scotland early summer...I don't think it will stay that long in Scotland...but it may be in Spain...any idea?
During U2's recent 'Vertigo Tour', a film of the U2 rock stars in concert, was shot entirely in 3D. This first live action film ever made in 3D will be shown in over 1,200 cinemas throughout the world, including all the Kinepolis complexes in Belgium, France and Spain. U2 3D premieres at Kinepolis France on 3 March, at Kinepolis Belgium on 9 April and shortly afterwards at Kinepolis Spain (date to be determined).
Kinepolis Group believes firmly in the 3D application of digital cinema. No fewer than 19 of its European complexes have now been fitted with brand-new 3D installations. After 'Beowulf' (November 2007) and 'Fly me to the Moon' (Belgium, January 2008), this is the third 3D film to be shown at Kinepolis cinemas.
U2 in 3D
The concert film was made early in 2006 during one of the final concerts of the U2 'Vertigo Tour' in South America.
Neither cost nor effort were spared when shooting this concert film. Altogether the director had over 100 hours of footage to work with and the film gathered together the most impressive stock of technical resources ever seen in this category. Numerous cameras catapult the viewer onto the stage, behind the scenes, and among the wildly enthusiastic South American audience.
Thanks to the synergy between digital sound and digital relief images, and the highly innovative camera angles and zoom-ins, U2 fans genuinely feel the energy exchanged between the band and the audience, and they themselves become part of the action.
International film rights are owned by National Geographic, renowned for its high-quality documentary films.

Kinepolis and 3D
With the advent of digitalisation, 3D technology has really moved up a gear. Kinepolis fell in with this trend right from the start and has now equipped 19 of its complexes with Dolby 3D Digital Cinema - ten in Belgium, six in France and three in Spain.
The system is based on cooperation with Dolby Laboratories Inc., Barco and Texas Instruments (DLP Cinema ®).
In November 2007 Kinepolis presented its first 3D film, 'Beowulf '.This was followed in Belgium at the start of 2008 by the 3D film 'Fly me to the Moon'. The concert film 'U2 3D' is the third 3D film to be presented since Kinepolis launched its 3D Cinema.
Film lovers can watch the clear, high-quality relief images through Dolby 3D glasses.
