1. I put the same post in u2mp3s forum

I found this new raritie ever seen before for me at least and not listed in u2wanderer or other similar sites

    According to http://u2theearlydayz.com/index.php?...en-Commadments

When revolver split, Kevin, Phil & Pete all had songs they wanted to record, The Reasons were a one off Dublin super group brought together just for the studio recording of 3 songs.
The Teen Commandments became the "live" version of the "Reasons".
Later all 3 tracks would be released on vinyl under the Teen Commandments name.
The Reasons recorded 3 tracks at the Lombard Studio in Dublin in the summer of '79.

    The line ups for the three tracks were;

    My Baby Left Me
    Phil Byrne Vocals
    The Edge Guitar
Kevin Helly Bass, Acoustic Guitar & Backing Vocals
    Dave Moloney Drums
    Gaby Smith Keyboards & Wurlitzer
    Written by Phil & Kevin

    Private World
    Phil Byrne Vocals
Pete Holidai Guitar & Backing Vocals
    Billy Morley Guitar
    Kevin Helly Bass
    Dave Moloney Drums
    Written by Pete Holidai

    Somethin' Better Than Nothing
    Phil Byrne Vocals
    The Edge Guitar
    Kevin Helly Bass
    Dave Moloney Drums
    Written by Phil Byrne

Thanks to Kevin Helly for the above information & the demo recordings

Robbie Moloney "What did the edge play, someone trying to convince me that it was Bass"?
Philip Byrne "Nope guitar all the way, the solo on 'Something's took about eight hours! LOL"
Robbie Moloney "It was only in the studio, the touring Band was Phil,
Dave a guitarist called Eamonn and a black bass player who I never heard of again!"

I captured the streaming audio through IE cache.

What do you think about this?

For me personally the guitar in My baby left me sound like Edge's guitar

  4. I just happened upon this and the download links are dead - is there any way that you can re-post these tracks? I'd be very grateful!
  5. interesting!
  6. Very interesting, Would like a new upload of these if possible.
  7. Still on the hunt for this, Just for Kicks and Vinyl Verdict (all tracks, not just The Edge/ U2 ones). Any help appreciated!
  8. 7" of Private World available on Discogs for $194!
  9. And the Edge isn't even on it! In a strange way it's good that there is a demand for this early stuff. Some of it is one flooded cellar away from extinction though; it really ought to be preserved online somewhere.

At least there is a website devoted to Irish rock with bios of many of the bands... not sure how many you can find music for, but at least they are documented...
