1. Hi,

i found my Live-Pogues CD from The Brixton Accademy 2001. I'm very happy! Does anyone here remember the Pogues? I'm a Shane MacGowan Fan since i was a little boy, 15 years old (about now 22 years!). It's a shame that Shane and the Band are doing no new Stuff. What do you think?
  2. I don't only remember them, I listen to them every once in a while
Fairytale of New York is made of genius
  3. This was a really fantastic band. I miss them too much. One time in the 90's the band was in my Hometown "Kiel-Germany". But without Shane. Pogues without Shane - a shame. I'm listening now to "Rainy Night In Soho" Fantastic!!!

  4. Pogues rock mah socks!
  5. I was just listening to Rum, Sodomy and the Lash last week.

Amusing semi-related factoid: there's a pub in Chicago called 'Pogue Mahone's'. I'm fairly certain they didn't know what that meant when they named it.
  6. A pair of brown eyes, then i'll go to bed.
  7. Shane was recently in the hospital ward I work in frequently, whilst unwell. The hospital staff all say the same thing: he was a horrid, mean-spirited, and vindictive man.

Don’t waste too many of your tears on him.
  8. Today, I'm taken back to the mid-80s. I was lucky to witness the Pogues joyously rampage through the Hammersmith Palais & then the following year's St Patricks Show @ the Brixton Academy in London.
In 87, as a newly qualified driver, I & a friend took my rusty gaffer-tape welded first car on a road trip around Ireland which ended with U2's shows @ Croke Park. The Pogues supported that weekend, too. Turned out we had booked the same hotel as The Pogues in Dublin & they partied in the hotel's basement bar with The Dubliners & Elvis Costello after the show. I was 18, sat on a stool at the bar, Shane & Elvis Costello one side, Spider Tracy on the other, trying to teach me to play a penny whistle. Some days, stars align...
Will take the memories to my grave & beyond where I hope Shane will be enjoying a carefree glass & a cheeky ciggie...
