1. As you might know this so called Godfather Records company is making pretty cool factory pressed bootlegs (see picture below). I already bought a couple on ebay and marktplaats.nl (dutch ebay) but they are always quite expensive. Is there anyone who knows where or who is making these bootlegs?? It seems to me that buying directly from Godfather Records is cheaper than from those individuals on ebay/marktplaats....Hope someone can help me out...

    360 Barcelona bootleg
  2. they take readily available bootlegs, factory press them on silver cds then package them up nicely. Im buying that same Barcelona cd.

Most people buy them at high prices on ebay thinking they are rare officially pressed live recordings.

Do you have a direct link to where you are buying them from?

I know how they make them, and that most people think they are rare officially pressed cd's. That's axactly why I want to know what and/or who Godfather Records is. If people can offer these bootlegs for around 20-30 euro (around 40 us dollar) they must be cheaper directly from the 'manufacturer' right?? I dont have a direct link for the one I showed but just go to www.marktplaats.nl and seach for U2. You will find bootlegs from Barcelona, London, Milaan etc.

  4. The people from Godfather are assholes. Make profit with the work of other persons. This is not fair to U2, the Tapers and the Fans. I Hope they catch them someday.

I'm not completly with you on this one....even though they are selling existing bootlegs ( probabely from u2start) they do create beautiful packages for them. I think it is fair to pay for the complete package. Personaly I'm not able to create the sleeves in a way they do so I'm more than happy to pay for it.... agreed?

i'm only buying for the lovely packaging. better memento of the gig for me than a t-shirt which costs the same.

I think you don't understand. Only U2 has the right to make profit with their work. Most Fans are taping concerts, making covers and making other fun stuff. Always for free. From Fans for Fans, you know. I hope you understand.

I do get your point; but as Germcevoy stated in the above comment he is only buying it because of the great packaging. You are totally right that it's NOT done to make profit with bootlegs, but in this case you pay for the added feature (= beautiful cardboard sleeve) and not just for the bootleg....
  9. would be less of an issue if Godfather had their own tapers. I'm selfish though and I have a thing for cardboard fold out digipaks

Lol, know exactly what you mean with 'a thing for cardboard fold out digipacks'.
  11. I've bought in 1993 a ZooTV bootleg from Dublin. Thought it's an officel release. Then i found out, it was a free radio broadcast. On the cover was not the sign of Island Records only a name called "KTS Kiss The Stone". I was pissed off, went to the Shop wehre i boght this and demanded my money back (59,90 Deutsche Mark). This was my first and only bootleg i've paid for. But it does no matter.

I would only consider buying very good recordings of shows I attended. Barca 1 and Dublin 3 at this moment. They just look nice
