What support act at a U2 show do you think was the best? Mine was In tua nua at the JT tour in Rotterdam. The worst was a German band called Einstutzende neubauten. At a certain time people were throwing empty soda bottles towards the band on stage. Not really a U2 support act worthy.

The best: Pearl Jam (Vertigo) or Big Audio Dynamite (ZooTV).

The worst: Kanye West (Vertigo), Oasis (Popmart)....though there could be worse.

Dunno about worst, but the fact that Runrig (my 2nd favourite band ever) supported U2 at one of the JT Hampden shows is good enough for me lol

From U2tour.de:

quote:
The two concerts at Slane Castle near Dublin were certainly among the highlights of the 2001 Elevation Tour. In August 1981 U2 had performed for the first time at Slane Castle - as opening act for irish band Thin Lizzy. 20 years later they returned to this location during their Elevation Tour and played two shows within one week. Except the concerts in Berlin and Turino these were the only open air events on the entire tour. 80 000 tickets per each Slane Castle show had been sold out within minutes.

The first concert on August 25th 2001 (setlist) occurred just one day after the funeral of Bono's dad. Supporting acts amongst others were Coldplay and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Playing a cover version of Thin Lizzys 'Dancing In The Moonlight' U2 were evocative of their first appearance at Slane Castle. They also performed 'A Sort Of Homecoming' for the first time in several years. The second show on September 1st 2001 (setlist) was professionally recorded. Production company Dreamchaser collaborated with SpinCam enterprises who shot exceptional pictures like 360° views ( Picture 1, Picture 2 ). Nelly Furtado, Moby, Ash and more also provided top-class support acts on this evening.

Personally the best were The Killers (Vertigo). Closely followed by Starsailor, who were on first. Good night that

I can't remember the second support act at Popmart Wembley, but they were poor. First band on (Longpigs) were ok.

Worst for me were JJ72 at Earl's Court Elevation. Dire.
