The definitive versions of these 2 songs, in my opinion, are on the Stay single.
For Elevation Bullet, either the Boston version for the Mark Chapman version or a post 9/11 NY show
Erm...Mark Chapman?
I agree that the Dublin BTBS from the Stay single IS good, but I'd still say the versions from Paris or Dortmund '92 beat it. That said, I'm biased lol.

Paris, OK, yes I agree that beats Dublin. But Dortmund? Not so sure about that one...

The solo dear boy, the solo. I mean, the song itself is performed pretty damned well, but Edge pulls off one hell of a solo (and this is going by ZooTV standards). It was my favourite BTBS until I got hold of the Paris gig...
"Pull the trigger, rock 'n' roll n********"
"What's my name?....Mark Chapman"
Go watch Boston at once.
(He's the guy who shot John Lennon)
Yet to listen to Paris '92.......
Ahhhhhhh...I never realised that's what he said lol, I always thought he said something like "John shot me!" etc.
As they always say, you learn something new everyday (I knew Mark Chapman was the guy who shot Lennon, but I just wasn't aware that's what Bono says lol...)

OK, if we're basing it purely on the solo, I'm forced to agree. But overall performance-wise, it's certainly not the "best". All about personal preference though...

Well, for me, a lot of post-JT BTBSs are about the solo, but that's the guitar player in me getting the better of common sense lol. I have to say, the Wembley shows do rock my socks, with Bono's rants and what have you. A lot of it is also about the guitar part vs. Bono's vocals, hence why I'm not too keen on a lot of Elevation and Vertigo versions - just palm muting Wah-Wah as opposed to the little riffs that Edge played during ZooTV and PopMart renditions, I think there's only one winner.
That said, I watched Slane again today, that is a good performance as is the Boston DVD, but they're nothing more than good in my opinion. JT and LT, they were sticking with the album format, but if you're gonna develop the song into a bit more of a gritty live entity, it needs a bit more than an alternative solo in my view...

haha. What's funny is that I've always hated the palm muting wah-wah bit. It's almost as if Edge felt he couldn't top ZOO/Popmart....
I will say I'm not a huge fan of the JT or LT versions....although the Star Spangled Banner was cool. R & H is really the only pre-zoo version I like other than the album version of course.

did you know? Bono stated that he wrote the song 'Kite' about and to his children; yet, after he completed it, he realized that it was a song of his dying father, whom he had a difficult relationship with, but in the end found his peace.
