I'm getting the Strat because I don't have the money for an Explorer! How much did you pay?
Congrats on your new Explorer. The Epiphone Explorers are not bad guitars at all. In fact, I've heard many say that the Epiphone Explorers are one of Epi's better made and better sounding guitars.

Is it in the natural finish? Either way, good going! An Epi. Explorer is the next thing on my list along with a few other bits and bobs that would leave me skinter than I am already
@Nick - an Epi. Explorer would probably fetch something like £250-325, so I'm thinking that's something like $400+ dollars? For now at least, you're definitely better off starting with the Strat. to get a feel for an electric guitar

Yeah, natural finish
I got that plus a explorer rock bag (which cost a bit themselves these days) for £260.
i asked in my local music shop and apparently their gonna be retailing at about £400 soon becuase Gibsons have temporaly stopped producing more Epiphones for some reason...

SHWEET! on the natural finish m'man, anything else and my opinion of you might have been somewhat different
Yeah, I heard something about Epis. having some sort of production thingy going on - I remember one of my mates informing me (prior to my purchasing of a white Epi. LP) that 90% of Epi. dealers are either closing down or not stocking them or something in the UK for now or something...if that's the case, tis why man devised the internet
Yea, I'm going to get an epiphone explorer eventually. Right now I have a strat, great beginner guitar, but replace the stock pickups (if your getting a mexican made strat, or "standard" as some call it). I have 70's pickups in mine. I also have an Epiphone Les Paul Custom Cream guitar. Next I want to get a hollowbody, either a riviera or a dot, I'd go for a Gretsch but they're waaaaaaaaaay to expensive. But after that, I'm getting an explorer.

Id really like to get a strat, like the one edge played mostly during the War tour, the all black one. thats sooo nice!

Yea, I was thinking of getting a 70's strat and changing the pickguard and all that to look like the blackie strat. But then I said, hell, my strat gives me the tones I want, I like the sunburst colour, I'm not spending an extra 500-1000$ just to get an "edge" guitar. I have the cream les paul custom already though That's an edge looking guitar.
did you know? The song 'Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses' is mostly about sexual jealousy, many people believe it's much more than just a love song.
