What I remember about the Loooonnnnggg gap between RH and AB is the constant rumors about them breaking up. I kind of remember some dj on the radio reading a statement by The Edge saying something to the effect of the band being at a crossroads. Luckily enough they were just all rumors. Then came The Fly, and it got really exciting waiting to hear what the hell the new album was going to be.

This is my first anticipation album. I remember when Vertigo was a hit, and I liked it. I however did not know who U2 were. I also liked OOTS. Funny how tv does that sort of thing. Fast forward to August 2007. I bought U218 Singles, which at the time was a best seller at the Virgin record store in Disney. I bought two CDs down there. One was U218 and the other Back In Black by ACDC. At the time there were very very experimental for me. I knew ACDC through the songs Back in Black and You Shook Me. Wanted to hear the entire album. As for U2, Vertigo was the preview that got me to buy the album. But by then I was sick of Vertigo and wanted to see what else U2 could offer. I obviously had no idea whatsoever. I heard BD, it was alright. Then came on Still Haven't Found. Now I'm here saying U2 is the greatest rock band from the 1980s onward.

As for anticipation on the new album, this is my first real dig in. I did anticipate the Who album from two years ago, but the Wire & Glass single came out in July, so I got a preview early. For U2 on the other hand, they could hold everything until the day the record hits the shelves. If anything they will try to do what the Raconteurs did. Release the album before the press sees it. So the day they released it the people and the press heard it at the same time. The only problem was it leaked a week before the release date. So if the U2 is leaked, can we promise no one will download and listen?

I have been documenting the anticipation, from our News on the New album topic, taking out the important bits and creating a summary when the album comes out.

My favorite bit so far is before we knew anything about the Psychedlic Pop tell-all:

another question.. will you listen to bootlegs before you actually see them on the next tour? i would like to try and resist downloading a bootleg of the next tour before seeing them myself but i highly doubt i have the discipline to do that.

I'd download the boots, but not hear any. Wanna see the setlist tho. Which song would be the opener, closer, etc. See if anyone has read what has been posted here lol.

i'll not be able to contain myself. Not a chance. Not a good thing though but if I can't hold back then I just can't hold back

tours aren't about the new songs. It's about the rarities and surprises. I won't mind hearing the new songs but what if they rework Streets or something. . . would you want to know what it's like or will you wait to hear it live? I'll be listening to the bootleg

true.... but what U2 is awesome at is putting their studio work on the stage, and reworking songs. when the new songs come out, I also will wonder what they will sound like live. For instance with Viva la Vida..... that track only works indoors. The new songs from the album could be the same way (either indoors or outdoors).
