They still sound good. Bruce is overworked now though.

Good call. Both are great.

Have you heard the album by there pre-Heartbreakers band Mudcrutch? Its pretty good. Tom is on bass though, with Tom Leadon (The bro of former Eagle Bernie Leadon) on the second guitar. They got back together recently to record it. Its way more mellow I find.

Mudcrutch(Pre-Heartbreakers)

Tom Petty: Vocals,Bass Guitar
Tom Leadon: Vocals,Guitars
Benmont Tench: Vocals,Keyboards
Randy Marsh: Drums&Percushion
Mike Campbell: Guitars,Mandolin

Tom Leadon, and Benmont Tench both get to sing lead at times.

Another band with two great guitar players? The Velvet Underground. Lou Reed and Sterling Morrison wrote and played some great stuff.

Random thought. Does anyone else hope GNR has a classic lineup reunion tour? (Axl,Slash,Izzy,Duff, and Steve) I heard there has been talk of it, which combined with Chinese Democracy finally coming out could make this the best time to be a fan in a very long time.
