Take the Pearl Jam approach and start selling recordings of all there shows. Lock us in a room with Hamish Hammilton and electric shock equipment.

Pearl Jam and Peter Gabriel have been good about releasing live material. U2 tape every show so it could be done.

As for Chicago fans getting screwed on the pre-sale... everyone got boned. They did sort it out later in the tour. They have said that memberships do not guarantee ticketing anymore; after the problems with scalpers and fan-fire (fan f*ckers!). But maybe... that 'no ticket'... bit was to throw of the scent... maybe... just maybe... they will do presales for those with standing memberships... that would be fair and just.

REM used a different company for presales a few years ago... I got tickets through them and it was smooth as can be.

I like Bruce Springsteens method from his solo/aoustic tour... you buy with a specific credit card. All tickets are will-call. You have to show ID and the card you bought with at the window - et voila: 1 way to beat scalpers.

Listen to what the real fans like for songs and play them - not snippeted, not shortened, the whole song and nothing less. Including Red Hill Mining Town, Acrobat, Unforgettable Fire, A Sort of Homecoming, Two Hearts Beat As One, Exit and some Pop stuff, even if you can't play them properly anymore.

Would it be worth it though if they play them shitely?

They could do instrumentals.

Maybe I'm the minority here but I don't think U2 needs to do anything to better its relationship with its fans, our relationship is fine.

Could U2.com use fixing? I don't know, I don't go there, I come here for my U2 updates and trivia. I'm not into bands because of how well kept their site is or how good their programming and communication skills are. A band's ONLY and SOLE communication link to their fans should be their music, period.

And I certainly don't think the band owes their fans anything but good songs. They should follow their own setlists and build their own themes and images. Fans are fans because they follow their favorite band, it should NEVER be the other way around. Is there music I wish they would play recently? Sure. But them not playing Tryin to Throw Your Arms Around the World on the Vertigo tour certainly doesn't effect my relationship with them.

And I thought we went over all this already but Paul McGuinesses isn't ruining anyone's image with anything.

As for all my SHOULD's and NEVER's up there, this is all of course, in my humble opinion

They don't. They rather have a blind eye policy. You have to stealth tape. There's no taper's section and you still get thrown out if you get busted.
If they could decide to go taper friendly, it would make things much easier.

I don't think that anyone is implying that U2 are doing anything horrible or wrong. I think the idea of the question was what would any of us, as fans, like for U2 to do that would enhance the fan experience.

But that was just my take on it. On the whole, U2 have done a great job at being U2. But sorting out U2.com, the ticketing... expanding the setlists... all would be good ideas that many fans I've met have also voiced.
