Bono. The greatest songwriter ever and he used to be the best singer ever(and I hope he will be on the next tour). But mainly because of what he does for Africa.

what adam brings to the band isnt necessacerily his bass playing though. he's written some great basslines but to be honest i dont he's an amazingly talent bass player. U2 works because the 4 members have some kinda chemistry. take out 1 and it doesnt work. for me thats adams strength

Yeah, I really love him for what he does for Africa. Have ben trying so many times to explain to my friends (that's not into U2 at all) why Bono is so great. But they don't get it The only thing they get is that I'm crazy in U2 and are that blonde, long and a little weird kind of friend that always goes around humming and have this t-shirt with a really bif peace sign on

Mine is Edge by a long shot . On my profile it says something like "everybody contributes something to the band". But Edge is the best because, I mean come on, who else plays guitar, piano and sings in the same song? On more than one occasion. I also think that he sings better than (sorry Bono... ) Bono sometimes. Although he can't beat Bono in singing in his "tenor" voice. Or can he? He hasn't sung that (you know which part...) part of Miss Sarajevo. Hopefully yet, so we can find out.

Many people agree Edge is a better singer. Bono has better stage presence though.

Reviving an old topic.....

Personally, my favorite member changes constantly, and I like each one for different reasons:

Bono for writing some amazing lyrics.
Edge's quiet sense of humor
Adam being the definition of "cool."
Larry for starting the greatest band in the world.

I agree with you here. Depends on my moods as well.

I'd go:
Bono: his self-doubt and over-confidence all rolled into one (huge depth of the human psyche/emotion)
Edge: agree with you 100%, his subtle humor is hilarious. I love the "Day in the Life of the Edge" video when he's walking down to the beach and pretends to point like a true rock star at invisible people.
Adam: agree here as well; any cooler, he'd be a cucumber (ok, bad analogy, sorry )
Larry: well, myself being female and having seen the "Electrical Storm" video...nothing else needs to be said.

Edge, with Bono, Adam, and Larry tied for second.
