As Bono asserts, celebrity is currency and he's using for greater good, not to his own advantage. It's part of who he is and what U2 is so let's respect his wishes. It's not as if this has been an overnight phenomenon.

Couldn't agree more

I think there are two kinds of celebrities The first one who always do nothing but get drunk and go to night clubs in their free time and The other kind is who make use of their time to do something good for the society and i prefer that the person that i take him as a lead through everyday life would be of the second type so he could help in solving the world proplems

i know it sometimes gets boring but he feels that's his duty , and his efforts are really working
because celebs are like gods to some people so whether u can go and do nonsense as the celeb u like do or u can do good as he do

He know it and he do what he do

Agree.

Bono uses his strenght as celeb for good reasons. He's not a Paris Hilton (Vote or Die, forgets to vote) but he really has something to say. It's a part of U2 and it made them as famous as they are now. And I don't think it affects the songs.

BTW the COEXIST part in SBS during Vertigo-tour isn't political. It's religious

I dont think of her like that
I think of her as a richy doll girl who have a lot of money to do wat she want when she want and she will do anything to get media attention and she get it (i.e. Like her, hate her u cant ignore her)

...and that, friends, is pretty much what I think

I think that the politics is extremely boring, too. But in all honesty, do you think people would sit down and read this stuff in the paper or watch it in the news? Maybe just hearing it at a U2 concert, they may want to take a stance and change. I know its boring for us die hards (and obviously the band as someone pointed out Larry looking down at his watch) hearing the same speeches over and over again, but as in the post before, if Bono doesn't do it...who will? He has truely done a lot for Africa, and people are finally starting to take notice. If it wasn't for Bono and the Vertigo Tour, I probably wouldn't be as educated as I am now about Africa and the debts they owe the U.S.... I even wrote a 10 page paper on it and used one of Bono's quotes for my writing class...people in that class had no clue about US's (or the G-8's) foreign affairs in Africa.

So u2 cant escape politics and bono cant stop giving those speeches , so we might ask the band members how they can pass this dull moments without trying to stop him
