Vertigo was a little too political. Elevation had its bits during Bullet and SBS, I think that was a more appropriate balance. People go to concerts to rock, not to be preached to. Although I'd rather be preached to by Bono than anyone else

vertigo tour was a little bit to much political

I actually thaught it was a good mix... like the human rights reading after running to stand still / miss sarajevo.

. Reduce the speeches, and give us a bigger show

I have to agree with that. Personally, I don't care if they get political, as long as it's a HUGE show. Give us great set pieces again, like the days of ZooTV and Popmart!

I really don't think that you can turn the clock back as far as Bono or U2 is concerned. To say that that Bono can change the approach to his music or audience is to say that he has the ability to turn off his need to talk about what matters to him. If that is true then it's not 100% genuine is it?
Sorry folks but you can't have it both ways.
False Bono full of crap, which he can turn off as it pleases you.
Or Bono who really means what he says, so he continues to say it forever more??
Which would you prefer??
Lady G.

I see what you mean Lady G. But why would he have to be false?

To be honest I know what means a lot to Bono and I dont want to hear it again. I have a lot of things that bother me about the world which Bono has never talked about (eg problems in India) and I dont expect him to talk about everything. The point is that it gets to the stage when he is almost insulting our intelligence assuming that no1 ever watches the news or does anything good about it themselves.

Hehe, opinions differ. But at least, give LoveTown another try. Dublin 1989-12-26 en Dublin 1989-12-31 and all the Rotterdam LoveTown shows are amazing!

OT: Arghh I don''t want such a long speech before 'One' anymore...It's great wat he says, but it's too much for rock shows. I heard sometime that Larry, Adam and Edge were annoyed by these speeches, so they used a timer during the shows. They wanted Bono not to speech longer than a number of minutes. Anyone else heard this, is it true they did that?

Wouldn't surprise me at all! There is the story of Larry looking down at his watch during one of these speeches and not realizing that it was broadcast on the huge screen above the stage.
