Foo Fighters are also important for the grunge. Radiohead for the alternative rock. I agree with The Beatles, Stones, Black Sabbath and The Who

Because they influeneced many more bands, and the culture in general. They invented new studio techniques, they used unusual instruments, they wrote sons with unusual harmonies, melodies and rhythms, all this without losing the "pop" appeal, and selling great amount of records. They were the band of the century. U2 did some of these things, on a smaller scale, but putting them side by side is just being too pretentious.

But U2 revolutionized the live performance (and continues to do so), so I think they deserve to be listed as one of the most influential bands of all time.

If you think so...just don't expect me to agree.

Not to mention that they've written some of the greatest rock music ever...

I've never considered U2 as influential,maybe that's just me.

The Sex Pistols changed the British music business in the mid 1970's,The Smiths influenced a whole generation in the mid 1980's..........and I don't think I've seen David Bowie mentioned once, nor Elvis Presely.

i think that a band like U2, who create music which reaches all over the world, for almost 3 decades , suerly has influence on music ,musicians and bands worldwide.

Exactly my reasoning (as well as what I mentioned earlier about revolutionizing the live concert.)
