During the Vertigo tour (which was the first one with recordings popping up so quickly) there was a 2 weeks rule. Noone cared. It'll be the same with a 48 hours rule. I guess chrisedge ruined it all.

Also, I don't really know what to expect from the next tour:
a) A bunch of great recordings since the good equipment is rather cheap and easy to get these days.
b) A bunch of mediocre recordings since a lot of people will tape with crap equipment.
c) Very few recordings because everybody thinks that someone will tape anyway and experienced tapers are pissed about how their recordings are treated.

That refers to online sharing of audio recordings only.

That begs the question: Will U2start members record the shows they attend? (Either audio or video?)

I wouldn't begin to know where to start. I also think it would be a major insult to the guys Yeah talks about.
Some photo's will do me fine, and if some kind soul who knows his job/hobby tapes my show, then all the better.

I just can't wait to have a full tour of sourced recordings with full lineage at 192kbps. I want to ban 128 from here

interesting stuff, i think that there will be a lot of not so great recording about due to people with the gear and not much experience. This is still great, and all tapers are heroes IMO as long as they don't sell. I think that there may be a little bit of tension between the lossy and lossless camps as always, maybe more proviso's to stop conversion etc.

But I expect this to be U2's most heavily bootlegged tour yet, both audio and video. Quality of mobile phone video is getting better all the time for instance. I also think that community members like u2rulesmyworld/stallion productions will be making almost pro-shot stuff DVD's by next year!

Anyone got any opinions on IEM or ALD recordings and whether you think they'll be more prevalent this time around?

The good thing about more sources is more matrixes, maybe every show will have at least 2 decent recordings this time around.

I also would have thought that there will be at least 1 FM broadcast, probably in the UK and possibly 1 pro-shot/broadcast video.

My main hope is that U2 make much more available through their website this time around, even if they don't give us a soundboard for every show, some real (quickly uploaded) good clips or video would be great. Although I would obviously love it if every show was made available in soundboard quality for download!

I'll be happy to record any shows I'm at on the next tour. I can't guarentee amazing sound quality but I'll do my best. If the quality is poor I won't upload. I'm there'll be plenty off ppl doing the same.

I won't tape anything..(need to battle for tickets first). And I hope the experienced tapers will do their job. And at the time, I'm getting mroe into lossless files, I'll respect their work.

I'd vote all the bootlegs be at least 160Kbps minimum...some just aren't worth upgrading to 192Kbps - and we could have a lossless forum for the next tour and previous ones as well. Maybe some of the really poor Unforgettable Fire or War ones could be taken to 160Kbps.

But I'd be more than happy to record a show for next tour if one comes here. I did do a recording of City of Blinding Lights > Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own but it wasn't the greatest, so I'm gonna have to splash out on some good recording equipment if need be. The phone just doesn't cut it.

theres barely any difference in file size from 160>192 but there is a little peak in sound quality so i'll continue to download lossless and convert to 192 with lineaga infromation and artwork included. Just wished u2torrents had more seeds on audio. Ah well
