I seriously considered taping some of the better acts but didn't. I'll be back in a day or 2 with everything I can find.

Does anyone know why U2 didn't perform on Live earth?
It kept me wondering when Live earth was over.

Perhaps because it was an environment-centric show, and I think it's not far off the mark to say that U2 aren't heading the movement for environmental change (although they are supporters of GreenPeace) - stuff like the ONE campaign, Drop The Debt and Live8 focus on social injustice rather than CO2 omissions, and then Music Rising is trying to help rebuild lives through music. And then again, perhaps they weren't asked...?

Bono also play a large role in the Live 8 gigs and the campagin that followed, and Live Earth was heavily criticized by Live Aid organizers over its usefulness

Geldof said "People are aware of global warming but millions are not doing anything about changing their lifestyles."

Daltrey said "The last thing the planet needs is a rock concert ... the questions and the answers are so huge I don't know what a rock concert's ever going to do to help."

Maybe Bonos relationship with Geldof and future events would be weakened if U2 had agreed to play just after Geldof had openly criticized it
