Well, in that case...I choose Gone. Together with Discotheque and Staring at the Sun my favourite song from Pop. If You Wear That Velvet Dress will have to wait a bit...
And I will share my opinion too, this time...and merci beaucoup for letting me choose one
Gone
You get to feel so guilty, got so much for so little
Then you find that feeling just won't go away
You're holding on to every little thing so tightly
'Til there's nothing left for you anyway
Goodbye...
You can keep this suit of lights
I'll be up with the sun
I'm not coming down
I'm not coming down
I'm not coming down
You wanted to get somewhere so badly
You had to lose yourself along the way
You change your name, well that's okay, it's necessary
And what you leave behind you don't miss anyway
Goodbye...
You can keep this suit of lights
I'll be up with the sun
I'm not coming down
I'm not coming down
I'm not coming down
'Cause I'm already gone
Felt that way all along
Closer to you every day
I didn't want it that much anyway
You're taking steps that make you feel dizzy / (Gone)
Then you learn to like the way it feels / (Gone)
You hurt yourself you hurt your lover / (Gone)
Then you discover
What you thought was freedom is just greed / (Gone)
Goodbye...
And it's emotional
Good night...
I'll be up with the sun
Are you still holding on
I'm not coming down
I'm not coming down
I'm not coming down

Actually we decided to first review all the lyrics on Pop and then move on to other albums, so that's why everyone's choosing from Pop. Being considered a disappointment, this has been discussed before, some of the music on it is really not finished, so it some songs take some getting used to. But once you discover the lyrics and the ideas in the songs, "there is no going back"!
Nice choice with Gone Casper, I'll post about it today or tomorrow.

It's about greed here, a word also mentioned later on. I don't really know the context, but I think it is about the rich and famous of this world. Maybe Bono wrote this song about themselves. U2 became mature during Joshua and ZOO TV was one big commercial succes. Maybe Bono was afraid to loose that succes...(You're holding on to every little thing so tightly)
Goodbye...

Really don't know what he means here...Could be something religic

This is about Bono himself again and U2. They wanted to get somewhere, maybe they lost themselves..(in their music). Bono changed his name (Paul --> Bono) and what they left behind, they won't miss, because U2 is so gigantic and succesfull.
Goodbye...

About the backside of succes, I think. U2 had this backside during Pop and every succesful artist will have to face this in their life.
Goodbye...

Gone is one of the songs that leave me more or less clueless. I could think of at least 4 different interpretations that make sense to me, so I'll give you the one I prefer.
For me, Gone is a dialogue of Bono (or any celebrity in general) with someone else (another celebrity? Hutch?). The verses are the other person, the chorus is Bono speaking. It's all about fame (and how in the end it's all bling bling only) and suicide:
You get to feel so guilty, got so much for so little
Then you find that feeling just won't go away
You're holding on to every little thing so tightly
'Til there's nothing left for you anyway
This is the beginning of an analysis of Bono's state of mind. He got such a perfect life without doing much for it. That makes him sick. That sense of guilt just won't leave. He's trying to keep connections with the "real" world but it fades away
Goodbye...
You can keep this suit of lights
I'll be up with the sun
I'm not coming down
I'm not coming down
I'm not coming down
That's Bono thinking about suicide. The suit of lights is that popstar image. Fans idealize him and see him with that aura. I'll be up with the sun - I'll leave this place and float in another sphere soon.
You wanted to get somewhere so badly
You had to lose yourself along the way
You change your name, well that's okay, it's necessary
And what you leave behind you don't miss anyway
The analysis continues: Bono wanted to be famous so badly that he lost himself, he betrayed himself, changed his name (Paul-Bono-The Fly-Mirrorball Man-Macphisto). But that's no problem cause he won't miss his younger self anyway (irony?)
Goodbye...
You can keep this suit of lights
I'll be up with the sun
I'm not coming down
I'm not coming down
I'm not coming down
'Cause I'm already gone
Felt that way all along
Closer to you every day
I didn't want it that much anyway
Bono again: Mentally he has already left. He had depressions for a while now and the thoughts about suicide became more and more concrete. He gets closer and closer (to his mother? god? transcendency ?) He realizes or pretends that he didn't want this celebrity life (an excuse?).
You're taking steps that make you feel dizzy / (Gone)
Then you learn to like the way it feels / (Gone)
You hurt yourself you hurt your lover / (Gone)
Then you discover
What you thought was freedom is just greed / (Gone)
The last part of the analysis.
The speed Bono climbs the ladder, how fast his success grows and grows make him dizzy but he thought he liked the way he lived. He hurts himself (drugs, smoke, alcohol, leaving friends behind) and Ali (wedding day...) on his way to the top and suddenly he finds out that this celebrity life isn't what he wanted it to be (freedom).
Nice posts guys.
My interpretation would be exactly the same as Yeah's, except for the last verse:
You're taking steps that make you feel dizzy / (Gone)
Then you learn to like the way it feels / (Gone)
You hurt yourself you hurt your lover / (Gone)
Then you discover
What you thought was freedom is just greed / (Gone)
I'm sure the last lines are describing suicide (Bono said so himself...somewhere), so I'll interpret the first lines in that context as well:
The whole analysis Yeah mentioned in the song, these are thoughts that "the celebrity" is having (It's not Bono really, he wrote it about any celebrity who's like that), each verse is a step in his thoughts that are leading him to suicide...he keeps thinking about them, they make him feel dizzy but after a while he likes to keep thinking about them, makes him feel pure maybe.
So, he decides to suicide. He hurts himself, and his suicide, hurts his lover. Then (this is actually after death!) he discovers (a very nice word to use here BTW!) that what he thought was freedom (freedom to take his own life), was actually greed (he just wants to break free from the ideas and doesn't think about others and how they feel after he's gone).

Myself, I'm clueless other than being certain of a celebrity pressure / suicide angle
