wow....thats a low blow. so in that case my slightly impossible dream of wanting to start a band is tarnished....bc i copied U2?
Sure, Coldplay may have borrowed some ideas from U2, such as the Viva Tour's encore resemblence to Zoo's, but at least they didn't plagarise U2 (where is the world is....Radiohead )
This record might even make the cut for my top ten favorites ever. Death and All His Friends should be recorded live, then put out as a single. Its that epic.

What I'm trying to say...I'd like to know some real first hour fans, who have followed U2 since their very first performances in all these small pubs and clubs. I think I would have become a fan during TUF, if I was born in 1960 instead of 1988.

I became a Coldplay casual with the release of Yellow, but it was only when I heard Fix You that I really sat up and took noticed. Hooked ever since (and with that, I've got hold of most of their albums and am further hooked - absolutely love Parachutes, but Viva is a fine piece of work. Just need AROBTTH now...)
Don't forget, however, that many U2 fans were also fans with the onset of the War era, so how must they have reacted lol? The ones who didn't drop away after the release of TUF (and the ones who did were sure misguidedly to do so, in my opinion), I mean...man, they must have been absolutely mind-blown as AB hit the world...

I became a fan with Violet Hill and the fuss around it. At the time I was in a Zoo phase so it fit like a glove. Viva furthered it, then the album came. So I then bought their three albums to see what else they did well. Of course after hearing Brixton I nearly shit myself with hearing Clocks and In My Place. Yellow was one of the tracks where I didn't hear the live version first. I saw it on the set on Brixton (I had only listened up until DWNC) and figured hey, why not. Damn good song that is. As for Rush of Blood, be sure to check thy PM soon.
True. I love the quote in wiki where they say the took the left turn with TUF. "The world was waiting for the heirs of the Who, but we said ah fuck it". Anybody who heard AB blew their minds anyway. Even I do whenever I hear it.
