I don't believe they are capable of making anything innovative...if they do, it will be because of Eno. As someone said, their songs are to much similliar one to another.

And I don't get that comparation with U2. They don't have that rage, power and imagination. I remember someone describing their music as "milk 'n' cookies rock" : ))

Nice stuff Johnny Sounds intriguing.

I don't give a bastard rats arse if they're innovative. I have other bands for that (Radiohead etc). Just some good old-fashioned song-writing suits me no-end sometimes

same here....
I just like their music, it seems though some songs are very alike, but never the less I really enjoy listening to their cds!!
I also had the chance to attend their first visit to Argentina, last year I think... and the gig was amazing!! only 2000 people or something, very very good one!!!

Coldplay are great followers of U2, one of the first bands to come out having been influenced by them. Like U2 with the Clash, etc. I often acknowledge the U2 references, but when I listen to Coldplay I don't hear U2 at all, I hear Coldplay, as I say that, their guitarist does steal quite a bit from Edge with those "icy" notes especially on X&Y. But nonetheless I'm excited to see what they'll do.

I like Coldplay, I think their first two albums are very good. I have to admit I was a little disappointed with X and Y. I'm hoping the new one is better than X and Y.

Does anyone have a release date on it?

Rumour is that it'll be out in May, another ruomour is that it won't be called Prospekt...

Looks like Coldplay fans are in the same boat as U2 fans right now.

I like them...I mean, they're on my Zen with their last two albums. I knew there was a new album coming, produced by Eno. I wonder how it will souns.

I agree that they sound too 'flat'. Most songs are like copies. They got some great songs, for sure, but they're not like U2..it's another kind of rock. They're more like Snow Patrol, I think.

I agree. Never thought of it that way, but it makes sense.

I wonder if the song "Lost!" will be about the DHARMA Initiative...
