hey gang....I don't know about you guys but lately (as in the past 2 years) I'm just fed up with Bono.
First, his voice throughout all of Vertigo was just subpar....
next, every show making the same exact speech before Miracle Drug and One of every single show. I mean, Bono of the past was always so spontaneous. the kind of guy you watch and it just gives you chills and drops your jaw because of his raw emotion and spontaneity. For example, the end of Bullet on Elevation...I mean every show he changed up what he was saying. I know some people say a lot of their live show is rehearsed but from a musicians standpoint, it is not.
Now, with his activism...Its great that he is making a difference and I def. think he should keep doing it, however don't let it interfere with the real reason you are who you are. I'm all for making a difference if you have a voice, but its just too much. Hes shoving this in our faces and preaching to us.
Even larry Adam and Edge were saying how it was getting to be a bit much toward the latter part of Vertigo. I agree with them. They are in U2 and completely committed to making the best music they can possibly make.
I just don;t think B-man is into it anymore.
Lastly, reading all these articles about his activism..Anyone notice he says the same things. Its always the same quotes. At least be refreshing. How many more times can I hear about the trip to Ethiopia he took with Ally right after Live Aid...ahhhh

I agree with most of that. However, it's hard to take that seriously when you have a Bono avatar, LOL. I guess that means I can't complain either. His activism I have no problem with. In fact, I wear a ONE wristband just about everyday. But the lack of energy is very frustrating.

haha true...but my avatar is from 97. When Bono was the closest thing to God a man can ever be...HAHA and maybe on elevation but I think even more so on popmart.
I have no problem with his activism either...just in moderation...let Bobby Shriver go out and speak against it while hes in the studio. Bobby Shriver can get just as much done as B

I'm almost at peace with his activism (I had probs with it before)...but when it takes his energy so much that he can't do the shows as well as he did...then it hurts.
But after the last leg of vertigo, with his new much better looks and much better voice...I'm actually hoping for good stuff to come

Yeah, I'm very excited about the new material. I'm ready for HTDAAB part 2. (Or ATYCLB part 3 )

couldn't agree more. Looks a lot better with the short hair...doesn't look like Predator anymore...and toward the last few shows his voice was really on. Excited! It also can't help that Lanois and Eno are back in the mix.
I think they should steer clear of Rick Rubin...Saints or coming and Windows are ehhhh. I think Rick Rubin is great for that mainstream sound and I don't really think U2 should fall into that kinda of niche. Kinda like Red Hot CP...ya know

interesting indeed.....he probably did...but like the article says...he has every right....and i think the picture on the right looks a lot like his father...when Bono is 70, he will look like that with those wide glasses and gray hair..haha
