Boy: The band's birth into the world if you will
October, using Boy's sound with religious themes
War, the ani-war album. Their first major 'left turn'
TUF, the 'elegant' album. Another good change for U2.
JT, the make or break roots of America album, critisizing America at the same time.
R&H, using the sound of JT and their exploration further into America.
Achtung, chopped down the JT, otherwise known as rock and roll.
Zooropa, achtung pt. 2
Pop, the dance electro album
ATYCLB, their return as the worlds best band. Their first rock-pop album really.
HTDAAB, the darker version of ATYCLB, with a dose of duality.
what the album has to be in order to stay on top of the world:
NLOTH - their next make or break, another left turn.
I thought I'll never hear something like that from you.
I've actually long said this one would be the best.
It really will be, and when they all of them talk about it i can sense a genuine shift in the ground.
I don't know that I'd be laughing! But you're indeed right....Bomb was supposed to be innovative as well, and it ended up being another ATYCLB.
Yea. I actually like ATYCLB better. It's been discussed before that U2 follow that 3 album pattern. Like Boy, October, and War were like their punk stage. UF, JT, and RnH were their sort of ethereal and american exploration stage, with that new sound that they became famous for. After that, it was sort of their innovative and experimental stage, with AB, Zooropa and Pop. Then it was the rock. Hopefully it will be different and they won't follow that pattern. Because if you think about it, IMO, the third album most often has been the worst out of the three in that time period. With the exception of War, the third has always been the least strong. Think about it. RnH was good, very good, it's one of my favourite albums by them, but it was the weakest out of that three, it was more less a JT part two. Pop was definitely the worst out of the experimental 3, IMO. It too wasn't bad or anything, it was cool, new, but it wasn't as good as Zooropa or AB, again, IMO. So I hope, HOPE that:
1) They don't follow that 3 album pattern.
2) If they do, I hope it's better than the last album, and maybe even better than ATYCLB.
Again, I'm not saying the third album in those patterns was bad. I love RnH, and Pop. But I think they were the "least good" of the 3.
I'd laugh if we were all expecting this big, innovative, exciting, new sounding album and all we get is another Bomb.
its a possibility that we may see come alive. I do get the general vibe rhough that theres something different in the air. Its not the pre-album hype but something suggests greatnesss. Time time time . . . .
