I love 'Stay', but didn't like the way they reincented it on the elevation song, without the guitar it was lacking something.
Zooropa itself is golf, i like babyface - i know it gets alot of stick but its ok.
DGPFYCC is another nice one.
I was the same, when i bought it i thought it was dire, but after a few listens, i understood what it was all about, same wih pop for me

It too the longest to appreciate (I hadn';t listened to Achtung when I first listened to Zooropa, needless to say its kind of helpful to know where it came from) but its one of thier most fun.
Some Days kind of sucks, but the title track, Lemon, Numb, Stay, Daddy, Dirty, and Wanderer all deliver.

Do they play any of the songs from Zooropa live any more? I saw the live version of Zooropa (title track) recently (only ever played 3 times live) and it was brilliant but U2 never felt comfortable with it so they haven't played it in just over 14 years - do you think they'll ever play it again?

Anyhting's possible. I'd be surprised if we never hear Stay again. Depends what direction they go in as for the others I suppose.

What do I like about Zooropa:
-Johnny Cash
-Zooropa, Numb, Lemon, Stay (my personal favorite), DGPFYCC, The First Time (very underrated) and even Some Days....... and one of my all-time favorites: Dirty Day
-The great bass guitar lines (Especially Dirty Day)
-Bono's best voice ever (so f*cking high)
-MacPhisto (Lemon, DGPFYCC)
-The tour (best tour ever)
-The history (made during the ZooTV tour)
-The 'weird' sound of the album
-not well-known to the big audience
-No overplayed songs
-It's a style which completely changed the music world (first AB, then Zooropa)
-The title (how do you come up with it: Zooropa) (I know: Zoo Station - ZooTv - Zooropa)
-The album fits; every song fits with the other songs
And that is why Zooropa is their best album, closely followed by ATYCLB

Nice topic as im going the u2 catalogue ( as im a new fan) and im in Zooropa phase. This album is amazing and maybe its the most contraventional album (more than October or even POP) maybe because the less time it was made in it or because it came after the ground breaking AB album.but for me the most i like about Zooropa is the following ooropa,babyface,lemon,stay(best),first time,wanderer live
