Safari on the iTouch / iPhone and iMac are two very different things.
Firefox 3 works beautifully. Jeremy, can you do something like a System Restore or backtrack on your iMac?
I'm a little afraid to do that, since this is the iMac I got from my old work, and I'm not sure if doing any sort of restore will make me lose stuff that I can't get back (since I don't have the hard copies of the software). Plus, I've had this problem ever since I started using this iMac back in December or so. I think it's got to be something about the site that the Mac's settings don't like.
1. Open Safari > Preferences > Security > Enable Java / JavaScript > OK > Reload.
2. In Preferences (for Mac), click Network and check everything is fine.
3. Failing that, create a new user account and see if that fixes the issue.
I'm not holding my breath though. I have a feeling it's something too, that is conflicting because you said you gave both Firefox and Safari a go, and yet none of them work properly. If it doesn't work, call up the knobs at Apple and see what they can do - maybe nothing, or they know what the problem is.

Another thing could be that the iMac has issues with Gecko. Gecko essentially is the web backend, or application programming interface (API) to Firefox and Safari, so if you can find an option in the Preferences relating to this, changing a setting or two could just kick it back into sxith gear.
In Firefox, also, try typing about:config, but be careful! There could be something conflicting there.

If you need to know, my desktop is running Windows Vista Home Basic, and my laptop is running XP. I'm not sure if its SP1, or SP2.
Hey Nick....I'm not Mr. Technology (like Drew), but I'm 99.99% sure that you can use your own router. We have cable through Charter Communications here, and we have our own router and our own cable modem. They wanted us to rent one from them, but we just use our own and save a couple bucks a month.

Cheers Drew and U2want, eventually I left it alone, turned the computer off, and the next day it was fine. Don't know what happened but anyway...
...in relation to that though, the two folders with which I've had such issues have been Brussels '87 and Tel Aviv '97. Now, whenever I play the 2 bootlegs, for some reason the opening file (Streets and Mofo respectively) come up separately on different folders, yet the rest of the files from each 'album' all have the same info., i.e. folder name, comments, genre, year and artist apart from individual stuff such as track name, number etc.
I mean, if I go to My Music folder etc. and then select the whole bootleg to listen to, they all come up as one playlist but if I go to the media library on WMP, I'm missing the 1st track from each boot. Anyone got any ideas?
I have a suspision as to whats goin on there Harry. I bet if you played em in itunes theyd be just fine? I converted those 2 gigs from lossless using some not to great software. Ill run them through itunes and reupoad them and voila. . . .

If that's the case, that would be good Gerard . I can't try the theory, i.e. play it on iTunes, 'cause we deleted it once my bro got his laptop (and he's the only one who has an iPod, see) but it seems likely

Don't worry about it mate, it's not too much of an issue, I mean I often select music via. the My Music folder method, but should I ever get around to that, I'll let you know

i'll have it sorted when I get my pen drive back as I suspect other non itunes suers will be suffering from the same blight

You can indeed use your own router. However, you do need to make sure that the internet service provider supports that specific model - it might pay to give them a call, but expect to be told that their one will work better (it probably doesn't do much else different and works quite similarly, if not the exact same). Be also aware that you may not get support from them for an unsupported set-up, so you need to do some searching or asking around to get help.

The router should work with XP / Vista - we run a combination of XP Home SP1, XP Pro SP2 and Vista Basic. Regarding T-Mobile, their website seems hard to get around - no wonder you couldn't get a clear answer, if their site sucks.
Easiest way to tell on XP for installed service packs is click Start > Run > winver. Then it has 'Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp : Service Pack), so tell me what that says and I'll be able to help you. About wireless networks and routers, SP1 and SP2 both do wireless well because we're running a desktop, laptop and my own computer runs Vista Home Premium - so it all works well. For the XP systems, make sure you download and install a decent firewall - XP's one is terrible and you can hardly configure it.

I think you can hold Ctrl and click each folder, then choose Play with Windows Media Player. That solved that exact same problem for me. WMP also has an issue where if it finds different metadata (album, artist, year etc) it won't play the lesser files with the different tags. Alternatively, select both folders and drag into the Media Library, and they should play.
