Casper's talking sense m'man, it'll turn out ok, always does - hell, when I finished high school I figured I'd find it really hard to let go, but you'll pull through
It might sound a bit strange, but in a few months' time, the people who are worth hanging on to are the people who are worth sticking with and no one can take memories away from you
Cheers guys, in retrospect I didn't say 100% what I intended to but I'm guessing it came across as I intended to lol (i.e. I meant to say that you know who's worth sticking with, I just got myself tongue-tied via. a keyboard...)

Right. Some of my friends from my class appreciate me for who I am and such. But some of my friends do stuff I don't want to do, like smoking and drinkin. Some of my Senior friends told me that those things get you nowhere.

For sure, I know what you mean re. the smoking and drinking. Hell, I drink, but in moderation and know when to stop, but smoking is the big no-no, whatever's inside the paper - the thing I see is that with alcohol, if you respect your body and drink now and then, the body recovers and no worries, because the body can cope with short bursts now and then if that makes sense.
However, with cigarettes, weed etc., the effects are far more long term; people I've grown up with already have smokers' cough for heaven's sake, and they're in their late teens! Your senior friends are right when they say they get you nowhere, 'cause they don't - apart from burning a hole in your wallet and your lungs. I never started because a) I like my lungs, b) ridiculously expensive and c) it harms other people, and I intend to stick with that approach.
I'm sure people have said before but it's always worth saying again, don't let other people make you do things you don't want to go your own way.

drink up until the point just before making a cock out of yourself. When you find yourself talking to someone and have no idea what the words coming out of your mouth are then it's time to

I'd say so, but don't take me as the fount of all knowledge - I don't want to sound like I know it all, I don't but I know something at least. The thing is, from what I'm aware, alcohol is a poison that the human body copes with far better than it does with stuff like cigarette fumes and the tar you get with it because they affect the body in different ways (from what I know and have learnt, but once again don't take me as the ultimate authority lol ), hence why I feel you're better off drinking in moderation than smoking 20 a day.
In all honesty, you're more likely to live a healthy life by steering clear of alcohol and there's no shame in not drinking, but if you respect alcoholic drink and drink it in moderation, then I don't think you'll go far wrong
(EDIT - Gerard takes the more cynical student-ish view - at parties etc., I usually drink until either everything tastes the same or everyone else has stopped )
And with that, I'm going to call an end to my online counselling sessions because it's 11 o clock (tick tock!), I have to do some washing up and wanna get some sleep in good time for tomorrow and college etc.
Take care one and all, hopefully be back online tomorrow

did you know? Bono wrote the song 'Out of Control' on his 18th birthday. It is about a feeling of having no control. Nothing changes now that your eighteen and never does. Feeling the pain from his mothers death and having no control over that or anything else.
